I want to preface this by saying that I ADORE this game. I own two copies already (PC and Switch) and have poured more hours into it than I care to admit. That said, the app store version is absolutely not worth the ten dollars I paid for it. I wish I had looked at the critical reviews before purchasing because apparently the issue I’ve been dealing with is a known issue that they just haven’t fixed. Something is very wrong with how the save data works. I am trying to carefully unlock all the decks, jokers, and vouchers and the game will tell me I successfully unlocked something, only for it to still be locked the next run I start. For example, I’ve completed so many yellow deck runs and the game refuses to unlock the next stake or the deck you unlock with a successful yellow run. This is so frustrating. It’s impossible to make any progress in the game like this. Save your money and buy this game on another device instead.

Can’t even play this right. Every time I try to buy any cards and pull them to the buy area nothing happens. Over and over and over.

Switched phones and lost all progression

Last 4-5 gold stake runs I’ve won haven’t saved… tried redownloading the app, relaunching, everything. Looking at the discord this seems to be a common issue for a long time and the devs can’t be bothered to fix it

I had high hopes for this game. However, being a avid student of the Bible, I am turned off by the use of tarot cards. I’ll be removing this game.

Every time new collections are unlocked, the game requires clicking on the icons twice to get them to stop showing a notification. This is incredibly frustrating considering there is no way to disable those notifications, and no way to mark them all as “read” Edit: Customer support is also pretty bad when submitting a ticket.

Started playing it recently and after about a hundred failed runs I only have about 7 or 8 wins and EVERY SINGLE TIME it’s because of the pettiest “one off” you can imagine. I know it’s all luck and whatnot but if you have a short fuse like me avoid this game like the plague. 200 losses now, game’s too hard

When completing a run on a deck or getting unlocks the game doesn't save your progress. This forces you to redo the same thing over and over until it works. This completely kills the game for me and apparently this bug has been in the game for a long time now.

Especially if you like two pairs. Over and over and over. One off the flush, one of the straight, but you will have 2 pair. 6s and 3s so you will miss by 5. If that sounds like fun this is your game

Apple Pencil is no longer properly supported after iOS 26

So I’m not great at the game so it really challenging for me, but that’s what brings me back to it. I’m giving it one star because it won’t save my progress. It’ll take me days to beat a deck but when I finally beat it, it doesn’t save it. It’s so extremely frustrating that i have to keep doing it in hopes that it’ll save this time. I’ll give it 10 stars if it would save locally to my phone.

Bland repetitive gameplay. RNG decides if you win or not from the start. I got the game bc my friend talked about how hard it is and after reading promoted reviews it looked fun. My 2nd try I beat all the rounds bc of a series of very good joker cards and hand deals. For the next hour I watched my friend lose after 3 rounds or less bc of bad cards. He eventually won several days later and said it wasn’t worth the time.

I put in a TON of time in this game and honestly it’s great. But… I keep beating a green stake and it won’t save properly and acknowledge that I beat it and the new deck won’t unlock. Pretty unfortunate for the amount of money I spent on this thing. (Downgrading to one star because it keeps happening and honestly, my money should be refunded)

Two years later and decks & jokers still dont unlock when you meet the conditions (sometimes). No its not a seeded run, no its not a challenge run. People have reported this years ago already. The team released a statement on it, still not fixed. I'll do part of your job for you. One way you can 100% reproduce it, is by choosing endless at the end of a run. Tho it happens even without endless mode at random.

Best mobile game I’ve ever played, but can’t unlock anything or have more fun

First off, I have Balatro on 3 platforms, iPhone, Xbox, and PC. I have been playing since its release. I bought it on different systems thinking I might have different luck on a different device. Nope. They’ll have you think that the game is randomized, but I’ll have you know, and from testing on 3 platforms that it is not. The game is constantly trying to screw you over. Things happen in your favor maybe less 10-20% of the time, if that. The rest of the time is spent losing and feeling like I’m pretty much gaining nothing and making zero progress. Meanwhile, people around me, friends, coworkers, have been playing equally as long, and have beaten each deck numerous times, and I’m over here like how. I’d love it if the devs had something to say in response, but I’m probably more likely to witness two polar bears giving birth on a green prairie while getting struck by lightning on a cloudless day, all within a 24hr period. The algorithm is toxic.

iPadOS used to be the definitive way to enjoy this masterpiece , now touch and pencil controls are broken.

I can’t play the game, is on a eternal loading cloud safe when this game is new to me, give the option to skip this eternal loading cloud safe

Used to love this game, was on a frustrating road to 100%, redownloaded the game to find only two of the 10 decks I golded completely gone. Safe to say I will no longer be playing this game again.

It’s a known issue that devs don’t care about. Game does not load on iOS if you have previous save files through Apple Arcade. Love the game but wasted my money buying it.

Great game. Addictive especially once you feel like you mastered the basics. I love having this on my phone. You can fit a game in just about anywhere and many different situations. Then, just as easy, drop the game and come back later. The music is calming enough to play in public too. Jan if there were more games that n iOS would that hit like this…..

Barely matters what you do, you still get thousands of points.

I finished the green deck and it did not reward me with the abandoned deck like the game said it did.

Had a game breaking bug but they fixed it after several months and while I usually would be upset it took so long this game is so good idc.

One of the only games I have been able to play for hours on hours and never get bored. Even when you lose over and over again it just has a way to bring you back. ❤️

Played for numerous hours on a handheld pc. Got tired of lugging that thing around. It works well

After the most release of Balatro (trial version), I am unable to play Balatro without disconnecting from the internet completely, be it cellular data or WiFi. This is inconvenient as a player since playing offline doesn’t exactly save your EXACT progress in the game/ during a run, only before a boss blind if you were previously IN the boss blind, after beating the boss blind and collecting your income/ reward cash after a blind but before making any purchases in the shop… etc.. I of course have purchased the full game since the middle of last year and have been playing almost every day since then, now of course I am experiencing this issue - hope this resolves soon.

I’m not much of a card game person and I absolutely love this game! Arguably the best mobile game I’ve ever downloaded! Would highly recommend to anybody

I love this game

I love this game. Have played it since launch and play a lot. That said, the “ai learning” in the game is really starting to kill the fun. Almost every hand seems to have an auto fail system where, if you are focusing a certain build, you will stop receiving anything relative. I consistently can have 10+ of a single card, discard 3 times, and not get a single one. This supposed to be a challenge, that’s why there are different decks. It’s not fun to play against a system set up to limit you to one pathway.

All of my friends love this game. It doesn't matter what preferences in gaming they have, they all love Balatro. Amazing game the only thing I would wish for is something like being able to build your own Joker that would be pretty cool.

If you are the a certain type of mind, this will suck many hours, giving you dopamine. Thank goodness there’s no micro transactions.

This game took my life for 3 months and i still play it to this day. worth every cent of the 10 bucks you will pay for it.

Just completed Completionist++ and can say without a shadow of a doubt this is the best money I’ve ever spent in the App Store. It’s downright addictive. No two runs are ever the same. Incredibly balanced. The learning curve is extremely rewarding. Cannot wait for the next update.

I never usually write review, but this is one of the most engaging mobile games I’ve ever played. Once you start to understand how it works the combinations are limitless.

I was so bored out of my mind and tired of playing fighting games. Then I found this. Buying jokers and selling them for money (in game currency) is a perfect idea. Each blind you beat you earn money depending on your performance. You can buy tarot cards and vouchers etc. I never thought a card game could be this fun!

Hours will tick by, they will roll in two days. If you have an addiction to gaming, this game will be your new fix. Be warned!

Bought this game for my iPad/phone and Ps5. It runs especially well on mobile, and since it doesn’t need WiFi, you can play it for hours on a 4 hour flight. Insanely replayable. Worth all the coin and more. 100% would recommend

I cannot put this game down, I knew what I was getting but it is so much better than what I thought. This game is so good because no ads, no in app purchases, nothing other than addictive gameplay. I see why it’s one of the only 5 starred games that has 100k+ reviews

I’ve beaten so many white stakes at this point, but the app isn’t saving my progress on most, if not all of them. Ive had to replay the same stakes on the same first few decks over and over and my progress is rarely saved after beating them. I love this game and its so frustrating to not be able to actually progress.

This game is so amazing I want to give it 100 stars. It has endless strategy. Gives me consistent dopamine hits after a long day at work. Every run feels different and FUN!! No endless money dumps to win. Pay one time and that’s it… There are insane combo discoveries!! I’m always saying “just one more blind” I can’t get enough of it. Thanks for this game!!
