Takes over an hour to pair, connects and then disconnects, and they charged me $55 in express shipping for it to show up 2x longer than advertised. (No refund naturally bc the support is an AI bot).

Their webpage advertises that you can import your data through zip file from Limitless. I was able to export the data in text only but there’s no option at all to upload or import. Anything in the profiles tab and I’ve searched every setting. I even tried the desktop app. Also this thing does not come with a free trial. It comes with a free plan. It says I’ve I’ve used my entire free trial. I never got a free trial. I never got anything. It says I got 30 questions. I feel scammed

I got the Omi Pendant with the watch strap. Within 2 days my pendant fell out and luckily I found it. Also the software needs a lot of work. Because its can’t copy and paste numbs notes when I have customer meeting very well. A lot of work to make it all work. It lacks basic features that most great transcription AI software does, It doesn’t even put my reminders in Apple reminders correctly so I have one place for all my reminders. Techncual support and talking to a live human person is next ti impassible. They only gave me a 3 day trial when I bought the pendant before I could return it. Really most give 30 days to trial. Seems like a lporly funded company

Worst ever app I used, very hard to even go past the errors

New to the app and excited to explore its features. The unlimited subscription is quite hefty. I tried using the ai chat but every response to my message is error. The information mapping is pretty cool so far and I can’t wait to see where it goes.

I have been trying this app. For professional use, the summaries are dangerously inaccurate. In one case narrative that I dictated, the summary omitted many of the key facts and distorted the chronology and flow of events. In dictating random thoughts about what was pending, however, it did generate a to do list that had some of the items discussed in it. On balance, my experience is that it would be very risky to rely on this app for any form of summary. For me, it is worse than useless for that purpose.

Omi AI makes some far-fetched assumptions about facts you tell it, so that advice is not accurate. The device never can connect when I need to record something. Skip this one. Try Pocket or Plaud.

This thing is so basic it basically Keeley just listens and does a very bad job of it and then they use probably a rapper and an AI model to translate what you’re saying and give some advice or comments so simple you can just turn your phone on voice while inside GPT you get the same results

The device is not as advertised, it is not a consumer ready product. The transcription functionality is subpar, after hours of conversation it still can’t even tell my voice from my roommates. Let alone transcribe correctly or address questions. Hey Siri and the free GPT models do this work much better than this device. I respect the work they’re putting into it, but it’s just not ready yet.

So, the ad said “no subscription.” The order page didn’t mention a subscription. Then, I get the device and for it to be useful it’s a $16 per month subscription. Without the subscription it eats up minutes super fast. I have currently used 38 minutes and it’s recognized a whole of 13 words. I turned the device off and it turned itself back on using more of the “free minutes.” So, I ask for a return the same day it was delivered. Says that I have 3 days to return it, which is a TERRIBLE return policy. That should have been a red flag. They know the device is primarily useless without paying $16 per month, so they make it impossible to return. Took them days to respond to a return request and they just gave me use cases, not a return label. Stay away from this company. If you bought the device, I’m sorry.

Charging issues. The device keeps blinking purple and doesn’t seem to charge. Needs a fix ASAP. Very frustrating. And they sell those devices and even have an ambassador program to sell defective devices! It is like money laundering gig! Be aware of scam!

Apple watch app crashed and doesnt work at all

I just noticed today. For some reason Based Hardware has been billing me $2.00 randomly for months. I never signed up for any kind of ongoing pay service. Now someone is draining my bank account. Not sure what’s going on but very suspicious

Short version, feel like it was a bait and switch. I had the Omi Dev Kit 2 for a while and had preordered the CV1 (consumer version). It worked well, occasional issues but it was a dev version so ok. Cv1 was released and had multiple issues ranging from extreme disconnects from my phone, randomly shutting off, battery dying without notification or warning (and to make matters worse plugging it in showed an immediate jump to 10% charged or more at times). This caused me to miss recordings of many meetings until ultimately I didn’t even want to use it and had considered going back to the dev kit. I had contacted support and posted on Discord but many times support email I would get an AI response and maybe days later a human response. Before I could even get any of the issues with CV1 resolved, they quickly announce that they can’t continue to provide the AI transcriptions without changing to a subscription model. This was not stated when I bought either of the units that a subscription would end up being required. They did add a free tier, but I see it as defeating the purpose of why I got the unit, to always record everything and then go back and trim what’s not important. If it used a similar model as Plaud, it would be a lot easier to meet their time in the free tier, since I could choose what gets processed. After they introduce the subscription model, I requested a refund of the cv1 model (I’d had it less than 30 days) but apparently this is outside the return policy time limits so I’ll just toss them in a drawer or consider selling them just to get rid of them since I don’t need another subscription based AI device. I’ve fully switched to using another device and service which has been much more reliable for my business meetings from battery life, to transcription accuracy, automatically identifying speakers, and just cleaner and more professional overall. While I’d seen promise in Omi, I feel this was a shady move and I know a lot of others have stopped using their devices because of this. I can understand the need to make money but perhaps it would’ve been better to grandfather existing users in and charge new users, or even a longer communication plan, or heck, better planning to know your business models were sustainable before hand and make it well known subscriptions would be required, but communication was just not there and that’s the main reason you’ve lost a customer, and others.

I was eager to get my hands on the Omiai AI digital pendant, a $110 device designed to record important meetings and details. Which is something I needed in my fast paced industry, where I meet new people constantly. Initially, I was thrilled with the purchase, but my excitement quickly turned to frustration. The device itself is sleek and intuitive to set up, with a clean user interface and a built in app that summarizes conversations effectively. The key feature, transcription mode, converts conversations into text and distinguishes between speakers, which is useful but often inaccurate. In one-on-one meetings, it sometimes misidentifies me as multiple speakers, creating confusion. My biggest issue is the paywall for basic functionality. Out of the box, you can’t access recorded audio without a subscription to a developer app, which costs about $2 a month to import audio to Google Drive. Even then, the audio lacks time codes, forcing you to guess when recordings were made—sorting by date is a hassle and not a solution. Worse, the Omiai has a “Pro” version, undisclosed at purchase, that limits transcription minutes unless you pay an additional $20 a month for unlimited transcriptions. For a $110 device, this is outrageous after five months, you could buy another Omiai! It feels like Omiai targets developers, locking essential features behind paywalls. As tech reviewer Louis Rossmann might say, companies like this want you to “own nothing and be happy.” I’m disappointed and will wait for an open-source alternative that respects its users.

Great device when it worked, but it died. For months I have tried to get help from Based Hardware now Omi. Then I bought a new one in May and 4 months later find out they are out of them. :(

The app gets stuck when trying to sign in with Apple ID… Can’t progress past this.

I can find a bug in every release within minutes. Zero customer support. Team kicks you out of Discord and GitHub when u r critical. No evidence they test prior to release. They rejected my plugins and then made their own that were very similar. Do not purchase the pendant. Look at Limitless.ai for a team that welcomes critique and is addressing bugs and feature requests. Plus they have an open and honest community. Did I say every release has been broken in some way? Also the core features do not come close to meeting expectations. Chat with memories fails basic tests.

I can’t sign in with Apple on my iOS device it won’t allow me to sign in as Apple it does work on my android

I truly think that this company and app has potential, they’ve consistently been releasing updates and features, now yeah, the app has it’s struggles, but that’s what happens when you’re constantly releasing new features, I think once they’ve perfected everything how’d they like, it’ll be an amazing product with incredible capabilities.

It is awesome and has plenty of features for building upon if you develop or have ai. The only thing I see wrong is there is no Apple Watch app. It says there is one but I can’t seem to find it.

It does what it said it going to do obviously you need to trained in order to perform 90% of the time the way the way you wanted to be. Oh a lot of tweaking and programming on my end in order to do somewhat close to the adv. and the reason is obvious is Dev kit duh! And all it delivers perfectly most of the time what is happening in my conversation and now event talking to me directly without pressing a button but of course have to build shortcut for that or else it will interrupt you in your real conversation. It fun app with the gadgets I brought for just fun end up using it almost everyday now to improve it. Without the device you still can use your watch and your phone and it provides better quality as well but still use most of your phone processor to do this task. Offline it just dies so keep it online hopefully in the future there is Ollama oh that’s it ! …well guy you know the drill and keep developing!

Truly a special product. So many platforms and YouTubers have tried to formulate a 2nd Brain Recipe. But these guys, in just one app, have nailed it on the head. And you don’t even know how Omi knows so much and keeps up to date. 99% is seamless, effortless and works behind the scenes. Please hire me- you guys are going to be rich!!

When it works, it’s good. The device constantly disconnects from the Wi-Fi and, therefore, is unable to perform its job. The only solution has been to have the app on top all the time, which means it’s mostly useless to me at this time. I had the Bee AI and was spoiled with how well it worked. The Bee AI had its own issues, but it didn't require the babysitting this app required. Update: Updated the app, as suggested by the developers, and it is greatly improved. I would say it’s useful this time since I want offline sync and run my conversations to my local LLM. It has improved enough that I’m willing to give it a try now with an annual subscription.

The app is great. The wearable connectivity is not super.

Omi is great and only getting more powerful with every update.

There’s a few options for an AI recorder but Omi is the only one that’s open source. Yes it’s early stage but it’s very extensible. I started with Bee and then Amazon bought it. Omi hardware is really good considering how new it is. If something is not working people should open a PR and fix it yourself instead of complaining :)

OMI app and accessories is one of the best productivity app (using AI and your own hardware ) till todate. It’s meeting summary reminders and tasks are better than Siri Alexa and CGPt put together (though it integrates with OpenAI and your voice of GAI tools)

Often has glitches and some trouble with updates but when it works it works well.

Very helpful! It can be your journal for the day with lots of additional details you would have forgotten. I use it to listen to what I say and analyze my communication style, where I should be more concise or clearer. The interesting part is the app you can use or create. I had an issues that support immediately helped with. I find the subscription a bit expensive for unlimited listening and transcription but it does its job and I am using it every day.

If you want to experience the bleeding edge of A.I. voice

The application and device is still very much a beta product. Be prepared to have many bugs, hiccups, and inconsistencies. This application is not for technically faint of heart. It does have great potential, however. Especially in light of other companies, privacy concerns.

I’ve been using it for about a week, it’s already become a second set of ears for me. It catches details I’d miss otherwise, and reviewing minutes later has been incredibly helpful. I wish there was a way to turn off the little light and have the push button more responsive. Also the hey Omi is not where it should be at this point in the game but hey it’s my first wearable AI so I only have wishlist to go by. Excited to keep using it!

Was using Plaud app for a year and hated it. Omi app is so much better cuz of the marketplace and action items

Model is customizable, ui is smooth as silk, prompt response time is almost instantly on iPhone 12 Pro Max. I try to keep minimal background apps running but this app is great

Okay, so I ordered this from a link that said “no subscriptions.” Only to find that there is a $16 subscription. That said, the customer service was eventually helpful. I also recommend that they create a feature that automatically shuts the device off if it is idol for more than 2 mins. That would be helpful for the people that don’t want to pay $16/month. Another thing that would be helpful is to allow people to purchase minutes if they run out. There are currently only two sub models. Unlimited and free with 20 hrs/month. I can see how this would be a useful tool. I didn’t buy it for sporadic use, but I changed my review from 1 to 3 stars because the customer service was helpful. If they add those features, I’ll update the review again. It’s a great concept, but it was originally marketed with no sub and those videos and landing pages were still out there when I bought the device. It sounds like they plan to fix those landing pages.

I have a really bad memory and having omi on all the time really helps me remember all i had discussed and the action items are so accurate!! Amazing app!

Nik and the team at BasedHardware are absolutely wonderful to know and to work with. Their discord is full of helpful accelerationists trying to make tools that the world can benefit from.

I have tested a few pendant AI devices and this is by far the best. Battery lasts for a long time, although the battery percentage is non-monotonic. The transcription quality is pretty poor. I'm surprized they don't let you use Whisper, which I have found to excellent in my phone-based tests. App is very nice otherwise.

It seems to forget the speech profile you save for recognition training. Other than that looks like the app is pretty solid. Would like to see the app have the ability to upload or write your own plugins in app.
