I used to adore this app! I started using it when it had first come out. I’ve been using it all throughout my two years so far of college and it’s been the best! However, they now are starting to charge. Maybe because it’s gaining more traction, however I cannot stay using the app knowing I have to pay. I will switch to Goodnotes or Notability now. Such a shame and a sad thing to happen :(

I’ve been using this app for 2 years to take notes for college. Now im studying for the MCAT and they just updated it so now you have to pay to add more notebooks. This was an amazing free option but now there’s no reason to use this over good notes as they’re the same price.

It was a good free app to use and rely on till it became paid

I’ve used this app for almost 2 years now and it has only gone downhill. They started with adding in ads and then put in the AI features that were needed to be paid for. I didn’t mind that but now they have made it impossible to use the app without buying some sort of subscription. The only reason why I haven’t deleted the app is due to needing it for school for the next few months. This used to be a 5/5 star app. Please stop forcing people to pay for an app that says free in the name.

This app was good for students that can’t pay for an app, until they asked for subscription to get more ability to have more features, now I can no longer have more notebooks. I would recommend buy an app that already has all these features without lying to people saying that is free

It doesn't work whenever I try to open a new blank page; it only works if I use ruled lines. Honestly, I don't understand why the screen freezes every time I try to open a blank layout. I don't like the lines, unfortunately they make me dizzy—I just want to work on a blank page. Is that too much to ask? EDIT: I even tried to pay, to see if that was the problem, cuz a don’t care to pay for any app that makes my life easier, but this app keeps freezing every time that I want to either pay for a subscription o create a new note like ????

App is ok. Used to be free, till they started a subscription just to keep the app being usable midway through the school year. They keep adding tiers and unnecessary AI features. I only paid their subscription because I already had notes on the app. I wont be giving my money to a company that will take away existing features and lock behind paywall, especially when their branding is “free”. I don’t trust they won’t take away more. If you are gonna pay for a notes app, choose one that is forthcoming with their charges. Oh and please don’t demean your customers about the meaning behind the name. We aren’t stupid and know the original intention was free of charge, not freedom to create. Your decisions already clash with your branding, don’t make it worse. Please rethink your approach

I used to like this app but there are now SO many adds you can’t do anything without having to sit through and add, I literally can’t delete a not without it playing and ad EVERY TIME ne it has completely ruined the app, do better

Why call the app ‘free notes’ if you have to pay. Talk about a scam.

As the title says you can pay to get rid of ads but it won’t actually do that. $10 one time payment but since you aren’t subscribed to their super awesome AI helper, annoying banner ads telling you to upgrade will show up every time you open the app. There’s just a clear downward trend in how “free” this app has been advertised as over time.

I liked it, it works well and has good functions. There are ads but that didn’t bother me. However, you only get a certain amount of free separate notes you can create. Even if you delete the ones you don’t need anymore you don’t receive a replenished amount. So I can use it anymore without paying for the upgrade or combining my notes together. Which I refuse to do.

Too many things not part of the lifetime plan

I purchased the lifetime subscription so that I could edit my PowerPoint for my anatomy of physiology class but when I imported it does the same thing as the free apps and doesn’t use the correct picture for the slide and doesn’t correctly line up the labels to the images properly. I wasn’t able to test this out beforehand because my PowerPoint was too big to test it out on the free version and I’ve tried to get a refund and Apple has denied me twice. I will be disputing with my bank because this is very upsetting as a college student, I do not have time to waste trying to find an app and also waste of money on one that doesn’t even work!

Paid for it but never got it. Sent an email and did not receive a reply

really has all the options you could need, was perfect all til the paywall, i liked it alot because of how accessible it was and as a school student i couldn’t afford to pay just for a note taking app to do my assignments, so i was really happy with finding this app, the paywall really ruined it, i mean its called FREEnotes no??

Cant place my hand on the screen while i write. Writing starts going crazy making extraneous lines. Really unfortunate bc it has usually been reliable. You have to fix your app bc its currently borderline unusuable

I really like using FreeNotes for taking notes, but I’m quite disappointed with the auto-backup feature. The backup is saved only in the app’s own format, which makes it difficult to access or review outside the app. It would be much more useful if there were an option to automatically save backups as PDF files. That way, users could easily open, share, and review their notes on any device without needing the app. Because of this limitation, I’m giving this app 1 star. I hope the developers consider adding PDF auto-backup support in future updates.

Why even call yourself free when you suddenly throw a subscription towards all your users to the point where you can’t even use the app without it. Just big and greedy

The drawing portion seems reasonably well executed, but it feels excessively monetized. You know all those templates all those other note-taking apps provide? Here, you get ruled, blank, and grid, and if you want anything else, you're going to have to pay for it or make your own. There's a notion of "stationery," in a marketplace section with most prices ranging from $4-13. You buy a notebook with a specific color scheme and design, you get a certain amount of templates with it, near as I can tell. Get tired of the appearance? Buy a new one. Want a different form? Buy another stationery. There's a hundred forms in this package! What do they look like? Here's a tiny thumbnail of four. What do the rest look like? None of your business. I've never regretted purchasing a lifetime license so quickly. I feel gulled.

1st of all i liked this app so much but suddenly since this year i guess it started throwing popup ads… This is so annoying why the hell would u add such annoying adds in a app we use for studying not only does it distract while studying but also wastes time also break concentration and the ads that come is also so bad and unskippable that u gotta tap the cross button several times to actually skip it.. I am so disappointed in this app.. After this semester ends ill be deleting this app only reason i am still using it is because all my notes are already organized in this app …

Dont trust the name and assume its an actual good free notetaking app. the app was amazing when i first downloaded, it had all the functions i needed and it was my reliable notetaking app for years up until now. they bombard you with ads, takes like 15-30s+ of ads when you first open the app, now the notes are limited and it switched to a subscription. if you want to subscrib to a note taking app, i'd suggest moving other ones than this one.

The new update is not cool because it’s not a free note anymore you made us pay for it. You could’ve just keep it with ads

One of the worst app i have ever seen

You cant call your app FREEnotes if it isn't free. It's misleading and I was super disappointed. Its $2 per week btw

This app claims to be free, but limits you to 3 notes before they gouge you with having to pay a subscription.

It’s a good app, but honestly I was disappointed, many of the things are not even really free, like u have to buy templates and stuff. I thought it was free, also it was confusing, I was hoping for something better. IVE also been searching for a study app, and I thought this might be it, but NO, so I’ll just have to keep looking.

used to be THE BEST note taking app because it was 100% free they had infinite papers you didn’t have to pay for anything besides cute stickers now they changed all that. I get y’all need to make money but students are already broke enough we look for things like this because school already expensive I would of just kept Notability if y’all were gonna always do this. The trial paying monthly to use shi adds up.

Change the name to “paid notes”

I was using the app for more than l year.Everything was perfect and this is the best app I’ve used.but since last month,I can’t create or import new note.Can you fix it or is it just my problem

Being an engineer and a pencil and paper note taker for decades, this was a great way to switch off a paper and onto something that’s easier frankly to access when I need it. I highly recommend the program as the cost is minimal with the upgrades that I’ve chosen and the work it does is fantastic. I even store some notebooks in PDF form on my computer and eliminate them from the cloud.

I use it for everything, from notes, importing and annotating textbook pdf’s, and planners! The handwriting beautification feature is my favorite. You can download any font from Google Fonts then import. You can also go on Canvas for any template you need. Awesome app.

Please add Persian to the handwriting language

I switched from Notability almost 2 years ago and never had a single problem with this app. They keep doing great quality of life updates and it has improved a lot in look and feel over the past year. I recommend this over any other note taking app that makes you purchase a subscription to simply have infinite number of notes. I never write reviews but this app has been endlessly useful to me for school.

Honestly the best app I ever use definitely a must have!!!!!

I hope to add a sound recording for each page in the sense that the sound is related to the page number or related to the page text. This will raise the application a lot and make it distinctive from the rest of the applications. I'm sure you can do that.

I’m not trying to glaze, but it’s made reading textbook pages or PDFs way more accessible. I just open the file in Freenotes and it does all the work for me
