Used to be great, now abysmal

I have used TripIt with a Pro account and loved it, but recently it started locking me out of my account for 12 hours at a time. It turns out that if I have my VPN on it triggers an account lock and I cannot access my account. Why TripIt treats VPNs in such a stupid fashion I cannot imagine, but I sometimes use a very popular VPN when traveling and losing access to my data while on a trip is not okay. I switched to Wanderlog and have not had problems. Update: I was able to confirm with TripIt support that an account is automatically locked for 12 hours if they don’t like the IP address. No warning or notice, just immediate 12 hour block with no access to travel info!! And this is based on a blacklist that is obviously faulty. I suppose this is what happens when you hire IT folks who don’t travel, lol!

Even after an update the pro version continues to crash making the app and the money paid for it worthless. Never had problem before. But when out of country I rely on this app. Not sure I can recommend this to anyone to pay for pro version now.

I used TripIt for years. It was a reliable service. They recently started banning access from VPNs. They lock you out of your account when you need to get critical information about your trip. If you’re doing the safe thing while traveling—using a VPN on a public network—and you need your hotel or flight information… … TripIt will block your access to your travel details. They’ll probably turn your account on if open a ticket. That takes days. You need flight and hotel information TODAY. Not in a few days. This is incredibly dangerous. Hopefully they reverse this dangerous practice soon. Until then, there are other travel organizers that don’t block you from getting your travel details when you need them.

This doesn’t really work. Dates are wrong, trips not recognized, super clunky, & I’m deleting

Maybe if you pay for it it works but otherwise this app does nothing but take up your information and space

This app is poorly designed and difficult to operate. Entering documents does not work well, and getting trip information into it is very clunky. I have the non-pro version.

I use legitimate widely used vpn services when traveling. Tripit detected my vpn ip address and logged me out, blocked me from logging back in for 24 hours. Only found out the reason several days after contacting their customer support. Major inconvenience without a good reason. Asked support to escalate but never heard from them again.

No way to add these apps

They make it impossible to cancel subscription. There is no where in the app to cancel subscription. Be careful!!!!!!

I have received at least ten notifications from TripIt Pro claiming that a flight I have booked is not cheaper and I should contact the airline for a refund. I subscribed specifically for this feature. Feature is garbage. Every single notification of claiming reduced airfare has me going and checking. Yup. Wrong. Not less expensive but more. Latest example. Email/App notification came in. Immediately checked cause I was on the computer. Flight was not $338 as claimed by Tripit Pro but actually $418. I paid $397. Save your money. And honestly the other features of the app aren’t that great since the airline apps do it better faster. If your company makes you use Concur’s TripIt great whatever but at a consumer don’t waste your time and money with this app.

Inaccurate from the get-go on a very clear and easy to read hotel reservation. Wrong checkin and check out dates. Placed 4 guests on my hotel reservation for 2, including guests "Flex Rate" and "Free Breakfast". 😂 Wanted me to create a new plan under a trip that had already been created for the same dates. No way to assign it to an existing trip. Too many other issues to list.

I was really hopeful this would be the travel tool that managed my trips and points. Turns out if you use American you have to email them statements which is a non-starter. It cost me $50 to learn that lesson. Tracking flights and trips I have plenty of those tools, but if you can’t track my primary airlines loyalty program then what’s the point. Also, doesn’t track my Chase Sapphire or Citi points. And the Marriott wasn’t working either. Account deleted and lesson learned. Would have been nice to have known this ahead of time.

they asked to delete old app and download from mac app store (basically the iPAD version) but it has been broken for many weeks anytime you open and click on any trip it simply freezes, I sent them many emails no fixes no reply!

All my travel in one place.

I loved this app but with a recent conflict they deleted all three segments of the trip instead of just the one which needed replacement. I spent much time editing them for all the seat assignments, ticket numbers and Itinerary code. The last two segments were with a different carrier so it is difficult to restore. Next time I will ignore their conflict resolution so nothing gets deleted. Their support was not helpful and said the information could not be recovered.

I’ll save you some time if you’re trying to use the iPad app on your Apple M chip Mac (which TripIt says will work on its website), it doesn’t work. It opens and looks promising showing your trips, but when you click on a trip you get the eternal rainbow spinner to nowhere. Hope this saves someone else from having to discover this the hard way.

I tried forwarding a TripIt generated pdf a TripIt member sent me and got an error back from TripIt saying ‘There was a problem…’ Seems like this should work.

TripIt won’t allow one to update an itinerary if you have accessed their app using a VPN in the last 72 hours. I paid for the pro version of this app and I’m disappointed in it. I have NEVER received an alert advising me of a less expensive fare - one of the selling points of having pro. There is space here for an innovator to own what TripIt is trying, and not succeeding, in doing.

I downloaded this app today and sent flight information for an upcoming flight. A few hours later I got an alert that the price had decreased $62 from what I paid this morning. It listed step by step directions for calling the airline and requesting a refund. I was impressed….until I followed those instructions. I ended up wasting 20 minutes on the phone with the airline and looking like a fool…because the price had NOT actually changed at all. I obviously can’t trust this app, so won’t be using it again. Deleted!

I have been using TripIt on-line for years and have really liked it. Just downloaded this app to my Mac and it is utterly useless. Every time I try to navigate to a different record the system crashes. And yes my computer has an Apple silicon chip. This is making me question whether I should be relying on the web version as well.

Great… when it works. Loses account often.

First off this app has a hard time figuring out scheduling changes. Shortened one trip to add a trip right after it. It combined it into one. Why? Cause I hadn’t set the date on the first trip to the earlier return date. I have received four alerts saying that the price of flights were cheaper than what I paid. This is the point of why I paid for the pro version. When I looked all four weren’t cheaper they were more expensive. This app is a complete waste of money. Concur is not adding any benefit to your travel . Don’t download this. It’s a time consuming frustration. And that’s being nice.

I’ve used this app for years, but in the past year it has failed miserably. An app isn’t helpful if you have to manually add plans to a trip!

I’ve been a Pro subscriber since 2010. Up until about 6 months ago, I had zero issues. But now, forwarded emails with flight details and monthly point statements are rejected due to size. These are the emails sent by the airlines and hotels. Yet support expects me to reach out to AA or some other massive airline or hotel and ask them to generate smaller emails or to create a template of my own. This should be a simple adjustment. I’ve even attempted to reduce the content in the emails but it never works. I’m knocking my 5 star to 2 and discontinuing my paid subscription.

I have used TripIt for a long time and generally like it. However, it is strange how the software is unable to read some basic itineraries with all relevant information and input them into my plans, maybe because the format doesn’t jive with their system. The app is falling behind. In this day of AI, this is a must…take a nonstandard format, figure out relevant details and autopopulate.

Setup a new account. Confirmed email. Get the doesn’t match note. Hit update password and get invalid form message. Endless loops trying all fixes. Horrible maintenance of links.

Trip it is awful. I tried to link this app to my email inbox 5 separate times. It keeps failing and won’t link any reservations or information for my upcoming trip. This app sucks.

despite confirming receipt of itineraries, the app info doesn't update. I have to reinstall each time to see latest info. Apple phone.

I've used and loved this app for years. But recently it isn't working. It send me a notification for a trip to Philadelphia, which does it exist ! They used two flights to/from PHL are in the past (Dec 2025 and January 2026). It also projected a return flight a year into the future that isn't happening. So the whole trip spans 328 days, and centers around two past flights. THEN it added an upcoming trip to California in April to that same reservation. THEN it added a trip to Europe in July to that same reservation. What is happening? Why can't the software differentiate past trips, upcoming trips, and different dates and places months apart? The responses from support were also useless. First they told me the system can't detect if flights are in the past because the reservation doesn't have a year? Of course it does. Then they said it groups them together based on similar data ranges, but the dates span 328 days and are months apart. Then they said I should manually arrange them into 3 trips. Why would I even have an app if I need to do that? SOMETHING IS BROKEN, and support is no help at all. I'll be looking for a replacement.

If you forget your password you will never again be able to access your account, even after a reset. Plus the cost for the most basic itinerary is ludicrous. Got this to replace TripCase and this app is absolutely horrible and outdated.

I thought TripIt pro being integrated with my company’s travel portal would make a great tool to manage all my travel. The service doesn’t add any value beyond what having your airline and hotel app does. I find myself only opening the TripIt app to clear notifications I already know about via my other travel apps. (American airline/marriott). A complete waste of $50. Looking for a way to cancel my subscription, but that option is hidden.

There’s no good reason that a glorified scheduling app needs my birthday, needs my full name, or anything similar. It is not actually handling my global travel documents. It’s basically just a calendar and reminder system. I will be discontinuing my pro subscription because now it seems like it’s data harvesting and selling my info, rather than providing me a service.

Now that Mail and Messenger automatically create detailed Calendar entries, this app is no longer useful nor necessary. In addition, it has become impossible to automatically add AirBnB bookings into trips.

Seems neglected.

Don’t bother with this or any other trip app; Eurail has a perfectly simple online trip planner. The app is clumsy and nosy. Really wonder where the data it collects is going.

I have tried to contact TripIt Pro to ask questions. I have never received an answer to any of my question. I use Apple mail program and cannot get my emails added to my trips. I have to manually add everything and this is not why I purchased this app. I do not recommend this app and I will be canceling my subscription before it renews for next year. Signed a very disappointed customer.

I used it for few years but never enjoyed it. Tried also the paid version but is not worth the bucks… Main deficiency can’t manage event updates; I.e. you check out earlier from an hotel or you extend your rental car agreement or you change flight… all those events will be simply added to the trip with overlapping times and so on, at the end you’ll get a pure mess… In AI era this is not acceptable.

This app would be INCREDIBLE if they could correctly pull dates, times, locations, and event types from the data I forward them via email. They appear to use some form of legacy data parsing which is only capable of the most basic airline/hotel plans, else it fails about 90% of the time.

The layout could use a lot of work (very plain, hard to distinguish different types of reservations from others, different days from others), and now once I had a whole trip set up it seems to have frozen and won’t let me access it. I’ve force quit the app multiple times and it’s absolutely useless. Also, the “premium” features for $50 a year are VERY simple and a waste of money, and many are duplicative of what you’ll get with an airline app, which you’ll probably need anyway. Overall, waste of my time to even try it.

My top trip app for almost 20 years!

It's a great app. I love that it pulls info from my email. I love all the updates for flights and airport information and maps. I love that I can add travelers . It's a great travel companion.

TripIt is the one travel app I use for every trip. I simply forward my flight, hotel, cruise, rental car, and activity confirmations, and TripIt creates a complete itinerary automatically. I love having all my travel details in one place instead of digging through emails. Whether I'm taking a weekend getaway or a cruise with multiple flights and hotel stays, TripIt keeps everything organized and easy to access. It saves time, reduces stress, and helps me stay organized from departure to return home. For frequent travelers, it's an essential app.

Love all my trips organized AND now get alerts when the fares go down so I get money back!

So simple to use and it keeps me so organized! I don’t have to worry about remembering all the details of a trip, all I have to remember to do is forward the email confirmations and TripIt does it for me! Makes finding reservations, confirmation numbers, trip details, and logistics a breeze.

I used to travel with a folder that contained all my itinerary information. TripIt is now my digital folder.

They try to respond and help

I am adhd as can be, so organization and planning is not my forte. This app compiles all of my plans in a clear and concise format automatically by sifting through my emails. I wish some of the big names (TripAdvisor and Expedia) would include bookings from any company other than themselves. Will be using TripIt for all future vacays

I have used TripIt few times when traveling with my family. Everybody looks to the add for information about flights, hotel names and everything is in one place, a great time saver.

I travel all over the world and it keeps track of my airline hotels car rental rentals everything in one place I don’t need else for my travel arrangements. Awesome feature!

What a wonderfully designed App. It does it all! So easy and so helpful to organize your itinerary. My favorite was the maps. It helped us feel safe by finding locations, directions and nearby pharmacies. Pay for the pro, it helps with your fight and location alerts. Really remarkable software. I highly recommend!

I first got TripIt Pro in 2019 to organize a multi-city/country family trip to Europe. I’ve grown to love having all my trip information at my fingertips, being able to easily share my itinerary with others, and the superior interactive airport maps. But yesterday, TripIt outdid itself. I got a notification that my flight itinerary was over $100 USD cheaper online and I should call the airlock to see about a refund or flight credit. An easy 16-minute phone call later, I had a $127 flight credit on my flight departing the next day!! Get this app. You won’t regret it!!

I’m so pleased with how TripIt works for you as the traveler. If you are a traveler more than once or twice a year, get this app! The in-app purchase is worth every dime. I’ve saved $100’s over the years, it pays you to have this app!

My go to travel itinerary app!!!!

I love that all accommodations, flight, and excursions are organized in one app! I can easily see what plans are and timelines. This is an amazing app for those who like to stay organized (even during vacations-lol!)

The best app to keep all my plans organized and in one place. Reservation numbers and any changes automatically update. Takes the stress out of travel.

This is great app. So far I have only used the free version and am very impressed with how it pulls in all of my reservations but still Allows me to add notes and even documents. This is way more than just a reservation tracker

This is an amazing app for consolidating all travel info in one place. It also makes it easy to share with others. The most frustrating issue with it is the inability to manually change the time zone from the default GMT when entering travel details. There may not be a known address for an activity, and without entering one the app will default to GMT. If this is fixed it would be a 5 star app.

Amazing app!

Imports itinerary directly from the airline. Keeps me well informed every step of the way from the date of booking my flight to the day I return from my travels. On occasion Tripit informs me of arrival/departure gates before my airline does. Tripit tracks every element of my travel with a great deal of accuracy. I highly recommend it. When airlines change arr/dep times are changed Tripit has difficulty updating information and it shows up as conflict. Why is that?

This app really helps me stay organized. I love being able to forward my bookings and have the app automatically add it to my itinerary. When I’m out of country and have no WiFi- I rely on TripIt so much and it never fails. Awesome app!

As A.I. improves, this app will be necessary for full-time travelers! For the most part. Itineraries that are sent to your email auto add into TripIt trips. No more spreadsheets and Notes. Easy to copy and paste info (ex airline conf codes) and paste. Highly recommend to keep plans chronologically in order.

As a frequent flyer, the app really helps me organize my upcoming trips. Also, it’s not flooded with ads. Love it!

TripIt is super easy to use, creating a well organized and easy to use travel itinerary. I have my flight and hotel bookings at my fingertips so no scrambling to find addresses. And it has saved me a few times, making it easy to see when I’ve made errors in the dates of my booking. And I love that I can easily share the itinerary with other travelers or my family so they know where I am.

I love this app. It had made planning travel SO easy. My only wish is that they would add a “notes section” to each activity (flight, tour, etc) where you can input important details. With that, it would literally be perfect!
