This app was nice for my reading. But now is just so irritating with the damn ads. Now I just wanna delete it and go to another book site. I give it two stars cause of the ads.

Don’t get this app unless you plan on paying.. ad after ad.. and it gets stuck on the ads or a video game that it wants you to buy.. good luck reading anything

I remember when wattpad was completely free to use. The news that they were monetizing the site broke my heart. It’s not even the same app to me anymore: paid stories and ads after every chapter makes it just unrecognizable. I understand there’s a cost to running a website and app, and I appreciate they’re trying to compensate writers for their work, but it’s just gone too far for me. It’s incredibly disappointing to me that an amazing free space on the internet decided it needed to be about profits

It’s a completely terrible app if you don’t pay to remove ads. If you aren’t willing to spend money to read then don’t even bother touching this garbage. It has some of the worst ads I’ve ever had to deal with on an app. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

As an author there it’s clear that app does not care about its authors whatsoever. Crashes on a daily basis and it’s very outdated tbh.

There’s an ad after every single chapter for a free FanFiction. It makes the app unusable

I love this app with EVERYTHING in me but the ads are getting ridiculous. I remember when there wasnt any or there was 1 or 2 and you could scroll past. This makes people not wanna use the app. It gets annoying and half the time i just get off the app and go somewhere else.

You guys don’t do a great job at a restriction because my 10-year-old sister has this app.

As much as I enjoy reading stories and going through pictures there are so many ads now to the point where I can swipe through a picture one without seeing an ad after every single page and it’s annoying even if I try to tap from chapter to chapter I still get ads

The limit on the number of stories that can be read offline is very small

The ads make the app so unusable! If it were a quick ad sure not to bad. But lately all of these adds are literally blocked to exit out of. You’re just sitting on a ad screen you can’t click out of. Nobody should have to pay for this app. The tags are barely usable anymore. Most of the good ones and blocked for no reason. Just over this app!

So? This is what it came to??! I liked reading on here, as I read i wanted to create my own story, it was JUST like the other ones(NEVER copied, they just made me wanna write my own) all I wanted was write a story, I wanted to do something fun, something different, and all I wanted to do was make something based in the 2000s, by using the song Freek-A-Leek as my inspiration. The next few days after I published it, it was already deleted for whatever reason, there was a story way worst than mine. So I will never understand why whoever created this app, can’t just be mature about, like please….i know you ain’t mad af about a STORY?! Like bffr…I hope both sides of your pillow are cold, I wish the worst for you. You deleted something I worked hard on day and night, til 9:00 in the freaking morning, going to the doctor because of my back and neck pains, migraines left to right! But I know you don’t care cause you sit up in the hills counting dollar after dollar…oh ok…

It used to be an Ad every few chapters, now it’s after every single one. Stop using so many ads or risk having the app being shut down because of no one using it anymore.

If you’re going to add ads , don’t make it so you’re clicking X AFTER X TRYING TO GET RID OF THE AD , I’m literally spending more time clicking “X’s” for ads then being able to read.

I grew up on Wattpad. Before the ads, before the paywalls, before so many of the changes that pushed readers and writers away, Wattpad was where I learned to love stories. As a child, I dreamed of becoming an author because of this platform. Wattpad wasn’t just an app—it was a community that gave young writers hope, encouragement, and a place to be heard. It made people believe their stories mattered. Today, I barely recognize it. The people who built Wattpad into a global success were not executives, investors, or corporate decision-makers. They were the readers and writers who spent years creating content, building communities, and recommending the platform to their friends. Yet it feels like those same people have been forgotten. The most disappointing part is not that the platform changed. Every company changes. The disappointing part is that so many users have spent years telling you what is wrong, and it often feels like nobody is listening. I am no longer the child who downloaded Wattpad with dreams of becoming a writer. I am an adult looking back at a platform that once inspired millions and wondering why the people in charge seem so determined to ignore the community that made its success possible. Wattpad taught an entire generation that their stories mattered. It is a shame that so many of those same people now feel like they no longer matter to Wattpad.

TOOOOOOO MANY ADS. Every time I open the app, there's another interruption. They push subscriptions constantly, and somehow that's still not enough because they keep raising the prices. Wattpad used to be about stories. Now it feels like it's about seeing how many ads they can fit between them.

I’ve been using this app sense my freshman year of high school. Which was 6 years ago now. WHEN THE APP WAS FREE. And now I can’t even read 1 chapter without being stuck behind a damn add. The adds are too much. One after every chapter is just greedy and insane. I used to read and read and now I can’t stand opening the app longer than 5 minutes. Im about to delete the app and just only use ao3 even though im not a fan of how the website works. I’ve tried learning to use it and I know how but it’s just frustrating to use personally.

I understand the occasional ad, but it has gotten absolutely RIDICULOUS. There is an ad after almost every chapter, and sometimes I will get an ad multiple times just trying to skip ahead to another chapter and have to exit and re open the app like 6 times just to skip ahead. It's gotten insane and incredibly bothersome.

I’ve been using Wattpad since forever, and I’m never someone that typically leaves reviews but I can’t stand it any longer. This app use to be great and free from so many ads and now you can’t given go one chapter without some sort of ad. Do you know how annoying that can be, I don’t mind a couple ads here or there but this is actually becoming a joke. I’ve never seen an app more money hungry than this, just so people will pay for an ad blocker. You’ve made this app almost completely unusable.

I like reading on the app I would like it more if I didn’t have to keep waiting to skip an ad EVERY. SINGLE. SWIPE. I’d get it if it were every 4 or 5 chapters but I’m not going to waste my time reading on this app waiting for every single ad when I can just read different things on a different app that doesn’t have the unnecessary and excessive advertisements. I don’t want to miss out on someone’s creativity and passion for story telling and I want to support creators on the app but because so many ads are making people leave the creators aren’t getting ALL of the reads they deserve to have.

Normally there’s about 10 ads in one book and the app won’t glitch but I’m finding an ad every time I try to change the chapter and it’s becoming unbearable especially since some of the ads glitch FIX THIS ISSUE

I’ve had this app for a while now but now it’s after literally every page I get an AD. It could be 4 pages and I still get an AD after every page. Not everyone can afford No-Ads. Please update and make this enjoyable for everyone. It is ruining your app!!

I’ve loved reading on this app but recently there’s way too many adds for an app that was once free. Every chapter requires an add now with no way to skip them. I’ve also noticed that when I close the app and re-open it I’m pushed back about 5-10 chapters and it uses my ad skips that I had to watch videos for to get back to where I left off. This is ridiculous and I am very tempted to delete this app.

I’ve been on wattpad for years but I’m starting to think of deleting the app as a whole after this. I’m getting ads every single chapter, not every few chapters, every chapter. This is ridiculous. I can’t even skip the ads like I used to because of this stupid update! I might as well move full time to Ao3 because at least they don’t have ads every five seconds!!!

Too many ads now when reading, if you don’t have a subscription. I miss when this was an ad free app. I hate to be mid read and going chapter to chapter an ad pops up each time. I love that I can write for free but I miss being able to read ad free. It’s just not the same anymore.

Говорят, мол, ставьте теги. Поставила я эти несчастные теги, а они тоже не сохраняются, куда не нажми! Что только не перепробовала - удаляла кэш, данные, чистила профиль, перезаходила с другого аккаунта - все тщетно! А в последний раз и вовсе выкинуло с Гугл аккаунта и больше не грузило - все, вечная загрузка. Что за позорные баги? Делайте выводы.

One day I logged into my account and went to my book and saw that my drafts were deleted. I didn’t delete them at all. I woke up and saw it gone. I am very mad and sad about this. I worked very hard on the drafts for these books.

Too many ads. Wouldn't recommend using unless you're willing to watch an ad just to switch between chapters

People message me back but when I got look at it and can’t see it it’s like they never replied or the conversation disappeared all together

Don’t buy premium or do the trial. There is no way for a refund at ALL. Apple will deny you the refund. If you have an android then you’ll probably be fine. Wattpad can do NOTHING if u want a refund which is the dumbest thing ive ever heard. I just lost 70 dollars for no reason. I DONT READ ON WATTPAD I write so premium is USELESS. I’m Very upset and genuinely want to get rid of the whole app because it quite dumb they can’t give u a refund and it goes through greedy apple.

Irritating & frustrated cause now after every chapter is an ad it’s not needed. Please remove that feature app is not enjoyable anymore to use ad’s only make the feeling vibe go away after the chapter when an ad is next.

I’ve had wattpad for YEARSSS ! What is up with all these ads?!?

Wattpad can be a good place to write or read stories, and I personally enjoy writing short stories or fan-fiction for fun. However, every single time I open the app, I get a screen asking me to confirm my email that I already confirmed MULTIPLE times. Now it won’t even let me add story chapters to my favorites or comment on them. I can’t even like comments either. When I try to re-confirm my email, it brings up a reverse-search program???? What kind of scam is this and why is it asking for all of my information??? What are you trying to get people to sign up for and why do you need so much extra, unnecessary and irrelevant information JUST to confirm an email address?? It used to be that they would just send a code to your email, but now they send a link opening to some sketchy website asking for all these extra personal details…why???? I don’t trust it. Sorry. Also, the amount of ads is INSANE. I can’t click from one screen to the next or scroll to the next chapter of a book without getting bombarded with lengthy, flashy, loud, obnoxious ads. Like you greedy a**holes need that kind of money. Pffft. Would give less stars but then you wouldn’t be reading this. Absolutely ridiculous and pathetic. 👎🏻

nothing like it used to be. the ads are everywhere and unavoidable. and after i paid for the premium subscription that claims to be ad-free, there’s STILL banner ads on every story.

Literally after every chapter I’m hit with unskippable 1 min + ads and sometimes I have to restart the app because the ads won’t give me the option to ex out of it. Which then starts another ad going again. I’m not paying $5.99 a month I’m done with the subscriptions and the ads on everything ENOUGHHH. Let me read my fanfic in PEACE.

1 star is for all the brave soldiers who can still stand to use this app in free mode. why, because i don’t pay out the wazooh for a subscription, is there a dumb, scammy looking ad EVERY single chapter?? this one ad, everytime i tried to hit out of it, would NOT let me go back to wattpad—i was literally held prisoner in a temu ad. could i have restarted it? sure, but i’m just going to uninstall because this is ridiculous. wanted to rekindle my fic roots but this is not worth it at all. do urself a favor and get on ao3 or tumblr instead of this garbage.

Like the title says, it’s full of scammers and bots. They pretty much flock to fan-fiction writers 🫩 (me). I miss when wattpad had the option to private message. At least then I might not have to deal with a bunch of scammers invading the comment section of my work. I’ve muted god knows how many scammers/bots, but it doesn’t work, because more just keep coming. Also, I’ve learned that if the bots find your work here, they start contacting you on other sites like A03 and quotev as well, which sucks. I’m never publishing anything on this app ever again.

It’s like the YouTube studio ai ad enforcer and the worst free games / apps on android came together smh.

There are ads every single chapter now. It’s so greedy and annoying. Nobody is downloading those corny games anyway, and it’s the same ads repeating. Not even new stuff. This is gonna make people move to fanfiction.net

wattpad keeps deleting all of my favorite urban books and there’s no opportunity to appeal the decision also there’s so many ads the app is barely enjoyable anymore

Need better support on the newer iphones. Because of the Dynamic Island the top part of the stores are cut off and hard to read. Also as i dont pay for ad free having ads after every single chapter is extremely annoying and frustrating. It makes me want to delete the app.

Every swipe of a chapter is another ad or a promo for the ads skip which shouldn’t be a thing in the first place

If I could rate it 0 stars I would. I’m writing a review for the younger me who loved to read and religiously write fanfic for years before the ads and coins came around. We had freedom to read and write, but now everything is a cash grabbing gimmick. One book gets turned into a movie and all of a sudden it feels like everything on the platform is catering towards its marketability. Everything is censored to the max and I can truly say after downloading the app and deleting it 50 times a year, I am finally done with Wattpad. You will be missed, but you are no longer loved! RIP.

Can’t read the comments due to broken scroll

Looks like I’m about to give up this app for good. The forced ads are RIDICULOUS and make the app unusable. There should be no reason I have to hit x FIVE TIMES to get through a single ad.

You have to pay to be without ads, and if you don’t you have sometimes minute long ads between every single chapter (so for books with a shorter word count per chapter it’s basically an ad every few minutes) and the tagging and search system is genuinely the worst I’ve ever seen, certain tags are completely censored and “don’t exist” even when they do as a way to keep you from finding books with that tag, you can only sort through a select few tags (based on the tags with the most popularity so good luck finding a more niche genre) but I do have to give props for the wonderful community I’ve seen on wattpad it’s truly filled with some great people but I cant see myself continuing to use it much longer when you practically have to pay to read here.

Can’t sign up with Apple

It’s not working it won’t let me sign saying in it says please fix any errors even though there aren’t any so for the love of Christ fix it.

Too many ads

I have been using this app for 6 years and have always loved it. Now I can’t even finish a book bc the adds are so annoying. There is NO reason for an add after every chapter. It’s annoying. Only keep it downloaded for this one ongoing book.

It’s a good app and I love and I’ve had it for years. But here lately it keeps logging me out when I’m not using it as well as if I leave it open overnight when I go to sleep and then I have to fix the stories that I have in my library the way I had it. But on another note I love it I’ve had it for years and it’s my top favorite reading app. It’s awesome in a lot of the ways that count. It’s not telling me that syncing doesn’t work and that books are restricted for me. I deleted the app and redownloaded it hoping that’d work, but now it wont even let me log in. I’m honestly really disappointed. And frustrated.

You spend more team watching ads than reading the book, and there is literally an ad after every chapter. Doesn’t matter if it takes 1 minute or 20 minutes to read a chapter- you’ll end up watching an ad after, and you can’t skip unless you pay( which I won’t be doing). It glitches and won’t let me read new books, or show the description for books that are already in my library. It’s a shame, I’ve used Wattpad for YEARS and it’s so sad to see what it’s become.

i’ve had wattpad for over 5 years. honestly the build up of ads i hated but now its ad after ad each chapter. the main thing that ticks me off is the deletion of books. with the amount of years that i spent on the app, i dont mind a few work being deleted but it’s been too constant. all the stories that i enjoy i cant ever read again becuz not only are the stories deleted, the authors “are not found.” what’s the point of the app at this point if the stories that are up to MY expectations are constantly removed…idk bro
