I use this app for everything. Mostly to store my songs and play them whenever where ever . All of the sudden is crashing every time I play Sound. Haven’t been able to use it anymore. What’s going on??

Company loves to flex about how great the platform is and AI this and that, but somehow can’t bother implementing do a simple SSO login portal on the mobile app. Come on, guys- get it together please.

The app keeps crashing completely out of the app when you click on a file that was in the resent folder please fix this

Seven days ago I made material changes to a legal contract. In checking the preview in Box (seven days later and twice), it is still showing the outdated preview. Horribly unreliable app. And the AI doesn’t help at all.

This app is so buggy and unreliable. Just use Google Docs. No matter what device or network I use, it often takes hours to upload a 10-min video from my iPhone. I just got a new phone and hoped the issue would be fixed, but nope, it's still giving me the same problems. Uploads pause without reason or warning, downloads fail more often than they work, and other issues have required me to not just restart the app but actually delete and redownload it entirely. I would never use it if it weren't required for my job.

The app has no feature allowing for documents pending your signature to be collected in one place instead of digging through emails for all of the signature requests, online you can go to a specific inbox for items pending my signature but the app is useless in this regard

Why is there an App Store banner being shown at the bottom of the app, blocking the screen?

The folder symbols take up a ton of space. At least offer a small folder view without all that info to the right like date, size, uploaded by etc.

So again its extra slow and previews are broken. Looks like every update its same thing over and over.

This USED to be a good app but they have really let it go. After you delete files, to add more there is a “+” button that doesn’t show until you press “cancel” which of course always makes you wonder if they are undoing what you just did. And even that setup changes weekly. It’s a mess.

Very slow loading of files and folders

Major fixes needed. Using the camera that is built in to the app is a nightmare. It lags SO much, takes 5 minutes to take 1 picture and that’s if you’re lucky enough for it to even do that. Now I have resorted to taking photos with my phone and upload them through the app. I don’t like doing this because my camera is full of work pictures, instead of instantly uploading to the file. It used to be better, taking pictures through the app but know it is impossible. It also takes forever to upload pictures to the app. Always issues loading files, currently I can’t open any. App is fully updated and it still doesn’t work correctly. Making box notes are annoying now because to make a checklist you have to click all these different buttons and delete and redo the list. The last version was better for this. I wish they would change it back Updating review on 6/5/26 Newest version of the app is terrible. You can’t see pictures in a folder fully unless you click on them. Makes my job 10x harder not being able to glance at photos in a thumbnail. Every update seems like it just gets worse.

I don’t know what the thought process was on this latest update but undo it. Using on the phone is now harder to move multiple files at once. I hate it all.

Browsing through my Photos moves so slow it gets stuck. Am I doing something wrong?

Horrible customer service. There are much better and less expensive platforms.

No option to share to box from WhatsApp or Google Photos. this option is available on Android.

It used to be a pleasure to use Box, something changed. Now it gets stuck. I use it on my iPhone 16 max pro, and it’s practically useless. Please unfix what you just fixed. Thank you very much! Maybe it’s the AI you’re using. I am looking to switch out of Box of this isn’t fixed soon.

Slow app. Crashes frequently. Offline mode not reliable (content not always available offline even though it has been downloaded for offline use). Overall poor and unreliable.

I have been a customer for 10+ years, and it is clearly time to move on. If you are looking to host family digital assets, this app has stopped in its development for you years ago. The photo sync is borderline broken. Pretty much useless if you have a lot of photos. They have clearly abandoned the consumer market. Their billing system is broken too. They have just jacked up the subscription 3x on me just like that because apparently somehow they have not been billing me correctly all these years. No grace period, no advance notice. If you are an enterprise customer and their sales people somehow got you hooked up on this product, I feel for you, unless you enjoy sluggish performance and retro UI designs straight from 1985.

The app functions reasonably well, but its battery consumption is horrible! 2 hours on screen viewing pdfs results in 42% battery consumption on a 13” iPad? That’s insane.

Cannot upload efficiently- I have the newest iPhone. You have to stay in the app. Cannot do anything else - takes an hour to do 20 photos/videos. Garbage system.

Box just erased my files! I will never trust this service with my data ever again. I had recent files which I had just created on my phone with a scanner app which had not yet synced to the cloud. The files showed up in the iOS Files app (which can be used to browse Box) & in the scanner app’s browser (which utilizes the Files app). But they did NOT show in the Box app. Checked for Box app updates. Yes, Box app had an update. Installed it. Opened & refreshed Box. Box then erased my local files by doing a one-way sync from online >> to >> local, overwriting everything new in the local files on my phone that had not yet been synced to the cloud! I lost data. Lost time. Lost confidence in Box. Potential new users beware.

Without integration with Files, and the ability to edit files on Box, this app is basically useless.

None of my verification emails would open, so I couldn’t even use the app.

The stupid developers decided to reset the passwords of all my accounts, causing me to lose one of them with no means of recovery.

I have an iPhone 16 & high speed home internet and my files never want to sync from my phone. My experience with this app has been a nightmare and I would never use if not for my work requiring it, nor would I ever recommend this app to another person. 1 Star rating until this is fixed.

The app is outdated and horrible to use. Can not copy or paste to get in, does not access my passwords app. Most of the Apple APIs do not connect. It is an overall dreadful experience. It seems like they haven’t touched the app for updates for years.

Just too difficult to access box. It’s not at all easy to utilize files.

The app doesn’t support password managers logging you in so getting into the app at all is a frustrating experience. many times when it texts you a two factor code the code won’t work then it won’t send you another one. there is no way to send in a trouble ticket on the website. No way to contact anyone for help. Just endless pages to read that don’t answer your question. as a paying customer, I’m done with it.

So annoyed they removed the ability to share with anyone who has a link. Time to find another solution I guess.

No longer can I upload a document to box from iOS! The upload document button doesn’t exist! It’s not under the + icon either! WTH! Are you gatekeeping my ability to use the core functionality of the app just to make me pay for your service?!

I can’t use this app. One of my documents won’t load at all, the other won’t update from its state 6 months ago. Opening links from other applications fails as well.

I thought switching from Android to Apple would solve these persistent issues, but it’s worse over here. The Box app can’t access or reliably open folders, and it struggles to upload or download files in a way that makes sense for sharing. If you’re the trying to use Box for anything related to social media or team collaboration with files between phones, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

I want to be able to do 3 things with this app: See my files - feature sometimes works Download files - feature never works Upload files - gave up on app without trying The app is often unable to show me the contents of folders, returning a network error. However, I am able to see the contents on a session in the web browser, indicating a problem with the app, not the network. Downloading files is not intuitive. The download button puts them…where? If I try the share button, it doesn’t download. For example, I wanted to read a PDF file while on a flight. I opened the file in Acrobat while I had connectivity, but was unable to access it when offline, indicating that the file was not downloaded. This app fails to provide the basic functionality that I need. The web interface works in Chrome, but it will open the app if it is installed, so do not install the app.

Please work with Apple to fix Box’s integration with the Files app. It is not working at the moment, from what sounds like some recent updates.

Upon hitting the log in button a browser opens, and then logging into my university account, it redirects to the website in the pop up browser, showing an error, and never sctually logging into the app itself. Super frustrating that such a basic function does not work at all

There is a systemwide outage and nothing is accessible on box currently. Well, I love having all my documents in one central shared space with my team, I am currently out of luck for a giant presentation tonight.

I am using iPad Air 2 ios version 15.8.4. The newer box version doesn’t work with ios 15.8.4. When I removed and reinstalled the box, it asks to download older version of box to work with ios 15.8.4. However in spite of keeping background app refresh off in settings, it automatically updates to newer version again and making it unusable. Useless App

Great cloud storage but lately their software won’t install on Mac OS and the customer support for this issue has been non-existent.

When someone hacks your email and you lose control you no longer have the ability to reset your password and regain your files. Most modern apps have a phone or text option to verify ownership.

You do not get the storage they say you do. You only get 10% of the amount with no way to prevent the replication of files 10 times each! They call them “backups” but 10 version histories? Without the ability to stop it or delete them without deleting each version of each file one by one! I canceled when they wouldn’t change it back to how it used to be. Which was a true 100gigs. They did not count the backup versions against the actual file count and i would rather not have even one extra version of the same file.

Folders will not load without going back and opening them a second time.

Just use Dropbox. This cost money and the Authenticator they require cost 5.99/week or something stupid. Deleting it before the free trial is up because unless you’re a giant organization that doesn’t mind paying or using it daily (which you could still just use Dropbox) it makes no sense in the slightest to use.

Every time a new update comes out I’m stupidly hopeful it will fix the bugs but it just creates more. The latest update makes the app completely unstable.

So many requests to remove the icon from the menu bar and it’s completely ignored. Why are you using OUR menu bar on Mac’s as if it’s your personal billboard!!!?

App freezes constantly due to concurrency issues. Often crashes as well.

Box did an update and lost a large chunk of my data. It is devastating to trust you have a secure cloud storage only loss your data. I cannot get a live communication with them. You only get bot responses that don’t help. So horrible!

App was perfectly functional until recent “upgrade” which has made the new scan feature nearly unusable. It’s absolutely awful and keeps taking pictures after you try to save. The old version was much better. Fire the person who came up with this “innovation.”

Why do app developers ruin good apps by adding things we don’t ask for which then destroys the features of the app we originally sought? Ask the Box developers because they just did this. I’m looking for a new file storage app.

UPDATE: There is still no option to log in using Google using the mobile app. I redownloaded to try after someone responded to this review and the issue remains. 😒 ORIGINAL REVIEW: I went from using this app frequently to being completely unable to use it. Why is there no option to sign in via Google on the app? Please fix this. I can’t stand having to use my computer to access Box. I need access on the go.

Viewing an image will freeze the app, scrolling to the next page of a document freezes the app.

Where did "Save to Photos" go? It seems to be gone since the last update.

I need to log in 6-10 times to read or downoad my files. Then it stops working. Rise and repeat. I deleted and downloaded again. Then I could not even log in for at least 30 minutes. I was concerned I lost access to all my files. Abismal.

This new version you go to click on something and you know you wanna see them like all the items in your category that folder and then you try to click back you can it just buffers forever and it’s not my service it’s just the app itself I don’t like this new version. I’d like the previous version. It was much better. You can thumb nail them and look at them. All you know thumbnail or you can enlarge them and then like scroll through them, you can’t do that and you can’t even click back. You have to click completely out of the app flick it away so you completely close it and then reopen it and then try to start again and you still can’t see them I mean, there’s too many issues with this new version. I don’t like it. I like the previous version better.

When will Box allow for folder links, similar to google drive shortcuts, so that i can access a folder of files from multiple locations?

I downloaded files from Dr. Gregor‘s video conference to my personal OneDrive, I can’t even access OneDrive from the app

Most of the time, I can’t preview any docs so I have to resort to downloading it which is not what I want. I end up going to back to the desktop app on Mac and even there, it’s a bad experience because slightly larger docs seems to crash Box web UI. Box really only works well as repository for docs with rev control.

I am forced by my employer to use Box. I have it on my iPad and on my MacBook Pro. The files are rarely in sync with each other. If I access Box only through a browser, that seems to work, but not through the native apps. Don’t use Box if you have a choice!!!

The admin support is terrible. Not only is it confusing to collaborate on this app, when you reach out for help, they are completely incompetent and useless. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I can view anything in my box folders. I can’t add change print get into my trash to restore a file

Impossible to navigate with my phone.

For a welll paid app it’s clunky and works,but that’s it. An example is the weird way you have to do edits and then save each highlight.

Not sure why the use of the separate application for photos (Box Capture) was discontinued, but the only way to add photos now is through the standard Box application and it is not user friendly and buggy in that it gets stuck trying to upload photos. The old application was much better and should be brought back. As someone who takes a lot of pictures for their job it was vary convenient to be able to automatically upload them to the project they belong with. Now I have to manually download and sort them. Updates are supposed to provide more functionality not less. Very disappointing.

From the last couple months the app has become unusable. Is super slow, takes a lot of time to load even small folders, all the actions you do in the app have several seconds of lag. Also the phone starts overheating while using Box and the battery starts to drain.

Sometimes when I try to open a file it is missing or does not appear. Other times it works just fine.

Heaven forbid any pop-up occur while you’re trying to upload something. Your hourlong upload will be canceled and you’ll have to start from scratch. Thanks.

My business depends on the Box and it is great u til there is a glitch - it is apparent this company has cut way back on customer service. Impossible to get help.

This app used to be great. It was fast and responsive, now it just sits at a black screen upon opening and spins and spins. It won’t even let me navigate to a folder. Uninstall/reinstall makes no difference. Login/out makes no difference. Please fix this!

For months now the app has been taking forever to open up a file. It will even crash while use it as well. I’ve tried redownloading it to see if that will help but it’s still the same.

Difficult to find and open documents on the go. Which is the whole point of the app, right??
