I hate the ai overview, please get rid of it, google was better before it

I hate that when I’m trying to read an article a pop-up ad or video blocks whatever I’m trying to read and I have to exit it out. If I click on an article I want to read it not watch an ad or a video. This is the most stupidest thing I’ve ever encountered!

Let me be clear, I am against the use of ai. I think it’s ridiculous that google has made feature that is impossible to turn off and automatically uses ai for every single question i need the internet for. It’s ridiculous, i realized that i had stopped even using actual articles and sources that would give me a deeper understanding of my initial question than chat gbt. Because of this issue, i have made the switch to ECOSIA as my default browser because they make it VERY easy to turn off the ai features in the settings.

The information I get is often wrong and outdated, also gives me many wrong answers to the time to a World Cup game, it’s extremely frustrating and I recommend using ChatGPT

This is ridiculous. Won’t open link. I have too many apps on my phone and I EILL NOT ADD ANOTHER ONE! FIX IT!!!!!!!!

After downloading the Google app I received an email from Google saying that Gemini was now being used on my iPhone despite my not downloading it and attempting to disable all Gemini related products. The Apple support team said that while the email was legit, Gemini was not on my Apple devices. I am not the only person who has had this issue and their only solution they’d found so far is to delete all Google apps. I am frustrated that this is being forced on us - especially since I have tried to disable it on anything connected to my Gmail or Google accounts - under no circumstances did I approve this and the implication that it was added to my account or iPhone without my permission is very disturbing.

The AI is always lying to you and now it’s the primary thing that Google is using when you search. Bring us back Google who had “Do no evil” as one of it’s rules, this new Google sucks and we hate it.

I’ve been a FitBit user for years. Since Google took over the FitBit app, it is much less user friendly. Yes, there are a lot of options, but the way it is displayed is not great at all. Plus, the bugs that were present on transfer to the new version were frustrating. My Charge 5 fizzled out. It was only 1.5 years old and I had all the settings just how I wanted them. I was not happy to have to buy a new watch.

Never like Google

When I was a teenager back in the 2010s Google & Chrome were always my default search engine. I swore by it! Despite having an iPhone I had all the Google essentials (Chrome, Google, Docs, Photos, etc) and loved them! Now I can’t use the app without having an electronic artificially “intelligent” robot try to metaphorically sodomize me with questionable information! I don’t want AI overview, I don’t need AI notifications, & frankly I don’t much care for the AI recommended article homepage. Give me my 10 blue links & maybe a subsection from a HUMAN WRITTEN article for the overview. All the AI is just one more thing to clutter the results page if you ask me & that’s something that makes this app more of a headache to use than a convenience. I’ll happily reinstall if there was an option in settings that allowed me to toggle the AI features, to turn them off. P.S. I know I can type “-ai” at the end of my queries to remove the suggestions but let’s be real, it’s inconvenient to have to do that with almost every search I do! So, TTFN (Ta-Ta For Now)

A website called imasdk.googlepis.com WILL appear in your screen time of multiple hours a week. Google also tracks your activity on your browsers. It is really messed up and frankly just annoying.

The AI sucks

Not sure why but my search bar keeps disappearing if I exit out of the app and try to go back into the tab. Very annoying havent had the problem before.

Possibly national ad but it is pathetic; makes women look stupid, helpless plus shows daughter with mom watching how mom can’t figure out what to do…finally she manages somehow to get oil changed; young guy at Take 5 says she is “ok” now. Well, thank goodness for someone who knew what the light on dash was for!

STILL TRUE: The app will not let you filter out results from X (formerly Twitter). Most of the feed is useless drivel from that site now. There is no way to block that site. You can block any other site, but not X. You must accept that X is half of your discover feed. No.

The app constantly pops up notifications of news which it thinks I might be interested in. The problem is that all of them, 100%, it’s spam with sensationalist headlines and pointing to “news” from 11 months in the past, even 3 years in the past. It’s horrible.

Fuq them them all, the billionaires don’t care about us

Like every other day and sometimes every day there’s an update I just want to do an image search. I don’t wanna wait three minutes for an update every time I open the app.

For a very long period of my life, I’ve been using Google. Google gives me a large amount of information and places to look for information. However, they’ve recently adopted something that destroys the environment, frequently steals people’s work, often lies or hallucinates, and brings prices up on utilities. This is Generative AI, I know you you’re thinking. “Generative AI Isn’t that bad” most likely. However, I urge you to do the research, because people around data centers where generative AI is housed on computers, are suffering. Moreover, people who use AI are more likely to lose brain cells in a new study because you are allowing AI to do the thinking for you. As well as a large amount of other factors that destroy the world. Thank you for reading this to the end, and hopefully you can see the many terrible side effects of AI usage and why we should stop using Google until they remove the AI features.

I understand integrating ai to some extent, but there is a significant portion of googles user base who really don’t want it there. I’ve been using Google my whole life, and am leaving because of the forced use of ai overview that doesn’t use credible sources or reliably provide accurate answers. The ai should have at least been kept optional, if not in beta, until accuracy and source credibility are more accurate. Until then, I’m off to a different browser. Google no longer cares about acuracy or factuality and forced an inaccurate and inefficient (both environmentally and for the end user) system that destroyed the core functionality. Just take a second and look at the amount of data that this app is stripping off your phone. It’s absolutely insane that Apple lets strip this much data from its users and she’ll sit here and pretend that it’s a secure platform.

Absolute dog water ever since the pivot to AI. I used to use Google for practically everything. Now I can't find basic answers to basic questions, and it comes with an unsolicited equally wrong answer in the form of an AI summary that can't be turned off.

At least about how I want to work. Forcing my safari searches to open your app is so annoying. And new. I live when the new stuff is more annoying than the old stuff.

The app has become so bad the last few months you can’t even use Wikipedia. It buffers and freezes if the page is large. It also has an issue where a pop-out picture on a webpage will not appear within your window, it will be somewhere below out of sight and you can’t access it. Awful, awful stuff. Do better

That’s it. Just get rid of the ai. It ruins EVERYTHING.

So like i talk to gemini, google’s ai and i think that it’s just amazing however i wish that the chat wouldn’t be as laggy. What im saying is that if you chat with the ai for a while it either gets laggy or it crashes and you need to start a new chat, so google if you’re seeing this review can you please work on it, but otherwise i honestly love your app.

I use it every day and its good

google was always my go to. everything was so easy to find, but when they added that ai feature i instantly started searching for other browsers. we all know the harms of using ai, whether you think it’s a big deal or not. i feel as though this feature should be OPTIONAL, considering that many people have strong opinions about it. i got sick of having to type “-ai” all the time and finally decided to switch to ecosia. i feel that it is disrespectful to not even ask users if they would like to enable ai before just forcing it into our faces. definitely won’t be using this app for awhile unless the feature is removed or deemed optional.

Google has helped me with a lot of things and I will always use google.
