I love the concept and found this app very motivating. At $20/month, it’s too pricey to have so many bugs. The Apple Watch integration does not work and resulted in a workout not getting recorded on my watch nor Runna, which was frustrating! And I had to toggle the sync button and manually import most workouts, which takes a minute and is frustrating. If Runna can fix these two bugs, the app would be perfect. I also would appreciate a one click start—I’ve had a few workouts where I didn’t realize it hadn’t actually started until I was a quarter mile or so and was confused why it wasn’t giving me pacing advice.

One month not being able to sync workouts

8.42.0 · 2026/06/17 21:01 · [An0nymou$]

1

I’ve been using Runna for some time now and syncing workouts to Strava. Since May 19, my workouts haven’t been recording routes, cadence and other analytics. Also, I haven’t been able to sync anything to Strava. I contacted the tech team and been passed on to 4 different people. I’ve been explaining to each one that I tried EVERYTHING the troubleshooting guide has indicated. Everything is toggled on, same account, disconnected and reconnected etc. and I’m still having the issue. I understand they have a massive volume of cases and try to be patience but I’ve been waiting for this issue to be fixed for a month now and just been passed down to different techs that are suggesting things that I already have tried. Hopefully, this bug can be fixed because I really like the app and just don’t want to stop using it.

Glitchy

8.41.0 · 2026/06/14 13:04 · mtyjuan

1

It’s obvious this app is updated without QA testing. Every update includes a tech glitch. The latest version has a bug that broke voice notifications. The dev team should do better.

Strength Plan Iffy

8.40.0 · 2026/06/10 20:34 · Hann Rob

2

Love the running portions of my plan. The strength leaves a LOT to be desired. I’ve checked 5 times that I only have dumbbells selected in my equipment and it keeps including stuff that call for a bench. It also seems less than optimal that while you can have the app on your Apple Watch, you cannot track heart rate at all in Runna strength workouts. If you use the Strava watch app or the regular Apple Watch workout app (both of which track HR), there is no way to link them to the Runna activity. If you track the workout in Runna and one of the options that allow for heart rates, you end up with two activities in Strava. Not the biggest deal in the world, but there is definitely a more seamless way to get everything to communicate. My boutique studio gym is able to have their app perfectly synced with Apple activities which in turn sync to Strava— so it’s wild an app (literally centered in technology) can’t get it right. Probably wouldn’t have bothered reviewing though if it wasn’t for the equipment issue. That is the thing that was really annoying— having to Google alternative exercises for certain parts of the workout while in the middle of it.

Fine for beginners

8.40.0 · 2026/06/10 11:47 · Cc_tron

Running plans are decent if you don't already have a plan. Nice to get paced Problems: 1. Pacer voice is off on timing. Says "almost there" only 1 second before finishing the segment. Also says the previous segment's pace at the start of the new segment, which is obviously confusing 2. UI is hardly usable. Multiple clicks to just figure out my current workout at the gym. I'd pay for just the plan data and build my own app. 3. Lifts are basically just a 45 minute warmup. Not challenging or even real workouts. Don't rely on these alone to get you in shape 4. If listening to music while you run (which most people do), the pacer voice will get cut off at the beginning and the end, making it almost impossible to understand sometimes Feels like the app hasn't actually been used in production by anyone who regularly works out

Farther not Further!!!

8.40.0 · 2026/06/10 10:23 · D in the ATL

1

Please correct the word choice on the “Run ‘Farther’” plan!! It’s embarrassing that a running app confused these two words! It makes me wonder about your credibility.

Runna is Greedy

8.40.0 · 2026/06/08 18:35 · kaydizzle01

1

I’ve had Runna since May 2025 and it was great all until their most recent force update that removed the free New to Running/Back into Running program. Why did Runna have to be greedy and charge for those now? Also, when I did the first two weeks for the New to Running program, it’s way tougher than the previous programs. You’re going to injure new runners.

Mediocre for Advanced Runners

8.40.0 · 2026/06/05 19:48 · LeComteMC

1

Customization options for more advanced runners are not there. Watch app scrolls through predefined screens which really sucks when you want to check your pace and it’s decided to show you heart rate instead. Pacing is bizarre, for my target race it set goals way too aggressively. Compared to plans from Hansens, Higdon or some others, it’s just meh. Also overcharged me and dispute process was all just automated loops and now I’m stuck and can’t get a refund. Unfortunately stuck for a year payment with them, will not renew another cycle. Better off buying a few books from the top tier plans. Also, the AI features are basically useless. You could copy and paste your run into Gemini and it would spit out the same thing. Also paying for Strava premium, you would think it would combine into one unified app.

Horrible customer service

8.39.1 · 2026/06/01 15:00 · Matt_Sousa

1

I was charged for an annual subscription that I did not want. This app makes it difficult to reach out to customer service. Support and FAQ pages made it difficult to see where my subscription was to cancelled, even though I didn’t agree or realize that I signed up They are still giving me issues getting my refund, forcing me to open. A dispute with my card

Descriptions and help center are in wrong language

8.38.1 · 2026/05/29 03:30 · aleksalynn

2

The run programs are in and of themselves fine, but the descriptions of the runs are in German (despite having my default language set to English) as is the help center. Also have had issues syncing the completed runs to Apple Health and my Activities. Probably will not keep it past this month.

Audio glitching

8.38.1 · 2026/05/28 21:06 · Jfjfjsjfkdkcksfosfirndbwhfckm

2

Love using runna but lately everyone an audio cue comes on it cuts my music to the lowest volume and will not bring it back to the original settings without me restarting the app. And when I restart the app it drastically changes either the distance I’ve ran or the speed at which I’m running messing up my WHOLE training session. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

In Europe and in the UK you get more free plans

8.38.1 · 2026/05/28 13:42 · Marie1231992

1

They are milking American users out of their money. Absolutely disgusting. I would totally buy the app but I want to actually get back into running without pain before committing to $$$$$. In the past the return to running plan was free to use. A few weeks ago this changed for users in the US. But not in Europe or the UK.

Prepare to be let down…

8.38.1 · 2026/05/28 03:35 · Chioke Aarhus

1

Runna completely failed me today. I tracked a 4‑mile run via the app on my Apple Watch, but because it wasn’t part of my plan and tracked as a “Free Run”, it didn’t save to my plan and can’t be imported into Strava. The run shows correctly in Apple Health, but Runna won’t sync it and Strava can’t pull it in either, so it’s like the workout never happened. I tried contacting support, but even though my app language is set to English (US), the entire support section only shows up in Spanish. After multiple sync issues and extra barriers to get help, I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed with the app’s design. Would not recommend.

Used to be great, but…

8.38.1 · 2026/05/27 15:13 · Kim Humans

1

Ever since they sold to Strava the updates keep making things worse. Spring intervals as an open lap? If I wanted to have to stare at my watch to track intervals I wouldn’t need the app. Now it’s forcing me to sync with Apple Health data, no way to permanently decline so I keep getting pinged throughout my workout, therefore I have cancelled my subscription.

Fix the music issue

8.38.1 · 2026/05/27 11:55 · Abbie2716388

1

I do love Runna and the new to running plan has been a game changer for me BUT recently the app has become absolutely unusable because it lowers my music volume whenever I’m actively running. Even when cues aren’t being given I can barely hear my music. Then, when I close the app or end the run, it returns to full volume. I’ve had to start completing runs without the app because of this. Please fix!

Happy with it but

8.42.0 · 2026/06/23 03:42 · Ernie718

4

I’m happy with it and currently on week 5. I wish I could customize better what I can see on my watch when doing my runs like my current cadence and heart rate zone I’m at to see if I need to speed up or go slower to reach zone 2. I’m not sure if it does it but depending on how I did one week I’ll like to increase the pace or slow it down. I think the only way to do it is manually increasing the intensity. Overall though I have seen a great improvement. I use to be able to only “run” for like 20-30 secs at a time but now I found out I can do 6mins non stop which I’m happy about. Looking forward to see how I do by the end of the program.

Love it but not working lately

8.42.0 · 2026/06/22 19:43 · Sadbanana1

4

I love this app and it’s been consistently effective for the last 3 months. However, lately it has been buggy and refuses to move on to the next lap. It stays on the current lap then tells me to keep going or if I press “next lap” or “continue” it won’t proceed. My phone and the app are updated. I even uninstalled/reinstalled and it won’t work. I checked the settings and it’s on manual. Idk what else to do but I really love the workouts as a former cross country runner so I hope they fix it. I’ve been having to do easy runs to avoid the issue.

Overall not bad

Not a bad app, I like how it somewhat is integrated with my watch. I wish the voice was less robotic and I could have more then 4 runs in a week for a plan

So far so good! Loving the app. And keeps me in check knowing I usually push too much in any sport or event I do and end up injuring myself everytime. So I’m happy I get to have this on my watch and phone. I’m obsessed with checking it off my list everyday and looking forward to actually running

So far so good.

Getting back into running is not easy especially at 55. This app is helping me stay focused and giving me structure while also helping me avoid injury. All that is good. My only real issue so far is I wish it was more integrated into Strava and there was just one app and one subscription. Maybe some day!!

I had been thinking of hiring an actual coach to help me with my training but then I heard about this app and thought I would give it a try first. Surprisingly it has been very accurate calculating and helping me adjust my progress. I recommend it to any runner who us trying to get better. I do have one complain. The strength workout imo is not the best for building enough training. So I do end up adding workout to my training

I was new to running last year and tried other free apps. This year I decided to run a half marathon and needed an app to hold me accountable. I tried runna for a week and love how you can schedule your runs. Other apps gave me a hard time with connecting to music but not runna. I also love how easy it is to flip from an outdoor run one day to a treadmill run another due to weather. I ended up paying for the membership and have been consistent and most importantly, my pace has improved a month or two in!

Love runna

8.40.0 · 2026/06/16 05:10 · kkrl18251

5

I love this app. The only thing I would change is the feedbacks and the briefing. Those have stayed pretty much the same and haven’t changed. So it’s redundant. This app has helped me from not being able to run for more than a minute to being able to run over a mile without stopping. That may not seem like much to some people but being 243 ibs woman trying to get healthier that’s actually amazing progress in such a short time.

Highly recommend

With as friendly as Runna is supposed to be with Garmin, it’s disappointing with how inaccurate distance is and can’t sync together to correct. Runna is consistently off by 1/4 mile. Just wish that after the fact it could update. I do love the schedule adjustment feature and workouts.

I am 57 years old and fairly new to running. I ran my first half marathon last Fall using another training plan and injured myself during the process. I took a few months off and restarted training using Runna. The way the app tailors the plan to your current condition and goals is amazing. I have a hard time gauging pace, so the pace guidance during the runs is huge. Incorporating strength training into the plan is great! Overall very satisfied with Runna!

Update - they got back to me, a real human, and were lovely. Refunded the amount. I downloaded the app, approved the free trial and quickly decided it wasn’t for me. Deleted the app, checked my subscriptions center, nothing there. Was still charged and all interactions are AI, so fighting for a refund with a robot.

This has made all my training for runs so easy, concise and is easy to use. As someone who is new to running and preparing for my first marathon, this app keeps me locked in and I know where I am and what I need to do to be ready for race day. I also use it for just regular runs so I can gain better insight.

I’m starting to love the app a little bit more each week at a time however there are some flaws when it comes to recording data in terms of weight training and a few other things as well, however, for the running portion, it does a fantastic job of helping me maintain my plan that I chose. I think as the app continues to make improvements. It will slowly become one of my favorite training apps a friend recommend recommended that that I use this app and I’m glad that I finally went through with it. There are tons of options and varieties for people to use so give it a try and I hope you like it.

Wow—I was pleasantly surprised by this app. Not only does it give awesome training advice for the running program, but it has the ability to add a stretching program, strengthening program and more to help with running. Advice even includes temperature/weather reports. It’s amazing. The workouts include videos and animation to show the exercise and built-in recommendations for sets and reps. And an in-app timer! Recommend for the weight training program alone.

5

I got Runna in October 2025 while training for a marathon. I was concerned at the time that I was doing ok at increasing my mileage but my times weren’t coming down at all. After the two week trial, I ultimately went for the Runna and Strava combined plan. Some of the runs can be a little bit aggressive towards the very end of a plan but the two week taper is great for race prep. I didn’t quite hit my goal pace for my marathon but came close and the run was much easier than the last marathon that I did. A few months later, my year-over-year improvement in my Half-Marathon timing is 9.9%, I’ve lost 15 lbs, and I’m training for my next Marathon in October. I appreciate the ability to move my workouts over the course of a week when personal appointments crop up or I’m just not feeling into a run. I never would have thought that I’d be getting much quicker in my mid-40s.

Inability to change the start of the week.

8.40.0 · 2026/06/06 22:47 · nikki9408

4

Great app overall, but I would love the option to customize the start day of the week. Currently, the app automatically uses Monday as the beginning of the week. I do my long runs on Sundays, and because Sunday falls at the end of the app’s week, those runs get counted toward the previous week instead of the upcoming training week. Having the ability to choose Sunday as the start of the week would make weekly mileage and training tracking much more accurate for runners who plan their workouts around a Sunday-Saturday schedule. Please consider adding a customizable week-start setting in a future update! Thank you!

I just downloaded Runna, starting with a trial and then upgrading to the Runna+Strava combo, one month ago, after using MapMyFitness to track my runs for years. It’s light years beyond what I was getting before in terms of the variety of workouts available in my plan and the types of runs it has me do. There are so many types of runs I’d never heard of. I track my measurements monthly, and in the past month, I’ve gained an inch in my chest, lost an inch and a half on my thighs, and an inch in my waist and hips. My weight has gone down slightly, but my muscle mass has increased and I can see the difference in my body and definition. I’m planning to stay with Runna long term. It came at just the right time because I had just hit a fitness plateau and this has gotten me out of it

This is great if you keep changing goals and want to increase distance. However, if you just want to work on speed, the workouts get repetitive fast. The app is also glitchy and it’s now been a week of it entirely muting music. I’ve seen more timely updates with free apps.
