Inaccurate nutrition data is a major issue in this app. The database and barcode scanner often return wrong values for common branded foods sometimes nearly double the calories and macros listed on the actual labels. Customer service dismissed the problems with excuses about limited manufacturer data and suggested manual custom entries instead of fixing it. Other free apps handle scanning much more reliably. The core tracking features are unreliable which defeats the purpose of a premium tool. Disappointing overall

Salmon was listed as containing 0 Omega-3s. Alerted customer service and was completely given run around. App was clearly vibe-coded and rushed to production.

Multiple barcode scanned items show WILDLY incorrect data that was clearly not verified. A protein shake with a calorie count 1/5 of the calories the recorded macros amount to should have thrown up an auto review.

Immediately deleted. Got excited when it asked what days I wanted more calories. Obviously as a woman you want this the week leading up and during your period. Nope. Only gave an option for days. The app was clearly built for men not women

Lots of questions, then lets you know there’s a subscription. Feels like false advertising. Where are the good simple apps that aren’t trying to be some terrible AI fitness coach?

You can only use this app if you buy the membership👎👎 I understand wanting to sell a premium version of the app that has more features but if you’re gonna sell the app for free in the App Store then you should have at least a standard version that works without paying.

The food library has way too much variation, which leads to inconsistent outcomes. Find something that actually curates and sanity checks its data or you are going to waste your time spent dieting or in the gym

I’m a very active person, working out with intensity 6 days per week. My BMR is around 2100 cals per day. This ridiculous app says I should only be consuming 1600! Talk about insanely unhealthy. A complete waste of money.
5.7.8 · 2026/05/22 18:00 · jn ihvbn
Hi all, I am 5'7, 150lb and female. I'm pretty lean, when I signed up almost a year ago, it set my daily goal to 1234 calories and my maintaining pace at 1500 calories. Something I noticed is it doesn't even ask about how active you are which is very crucial to a fitness plan. 1234 calories would be just fine if I literally sat on the couch all day. There's not really a way for me to change this. It's very annoying, I have compared my calories to other sites such as online calculators and my fitness pal, that both concluded my calories should be set anywhere between 1600-1800 calories. I struggled to hit 1236 (as most would) until I took a GLP and that's when I really realized it set my goals FAR TOO low. My hair started falling out (possibly due to low calories), muscle started to fall and energy completely left. This needs to get better 🤷♀️ there's literally an option to set ur goals a little above 800 calories ( I think it's called low bar) which is very very unhealthy for anyone. Personally I believe this app is not the best for counting calories. It also does not have a large data base and it makes it very hard to find items you are trying to track.

Very disappointed with barcode scanner when logging food it’s calculating incorrect macro breakdown even when sever size is matching label, this has happened multiple times and tested it on MyFitnessPal and it worked no problem. Unfortunately I will not be buying the subscription after my trial I would have expected this to work flawless.
5.7.6 · 2026/05/06 22:10 · ToastedBunz
Can't edit the name after putting in the entry. Gotta delete and re-enter. Sometimes it adds the macros for total cals, sometimes it doesn't. There is so much stupid friction in this app that needs fixing

Paid for a subscription and the app won’t recognize it. Stuck in a loop asking me to subscribe again, and “Restore Purchases” doesn’t work. Tried reinstalling and logging in/out—nothing. Currently paying for something I can’t even use. Frustrating.

They should be more upfront about the cost of this app. No reason for me to download the app and fill out a ton of information only for me to realize it will cost me $6-12 per month. No free version which is fine, but that should be easier to see before the app is downloaded.
5.7.6 · 2026/04/20 20:52 · MathewCV
The app let me sign up for a subscription, confirmed the subscription and then stuck me in a loop trying to get me to continuously subscripbe. Customer service was useless just repeating the same script regardless of how many times I told them there was no option to sign out and restoring purchases did nothing.

The MF app struggles to integrate with the health app even when my scale is on full write and MF is set to full read. It’s a decent app minus this fatal flaw
5.7.6 · 2026/04/07 02:44 · kodiec
I logged several meals and this app COMPLETELY miscalculated the macros! I entered the recipe link and entered the correct serving size. The recipe had 45g of protein, and it calculated 9g of protein. I searched all over to find a way to contact someone and see what was going on… nothing. And the “help button” only gives two options and no trouble shooting.

Scammed me for a dumb calorie amount no sane person will eat 800 calories a day unless you have anorexia (which I don’t) I think it pretty common knowledge that it’s unhealthy to eat under 1500 calories I paid 70 buck for some bs
5.7.5 · 2026/03/23 17:59 · Dezdez3344
This app is marketed as a next level calorie tracker to lose weight. However, the interface is not user friendly at all. It is extremely hard to find your overview of macronutrients for the day, and there’s no tracker for micronutrients that I saw. It also has a terrible database for tracking foods, I couldn’t even find a standard 150 calorie pre-packaged rice krispy treat! The free version of My Fitness Pal is 10x better than this app. Also, it put me at an 800kcal deficit to lose 1 lb a week?! That’s extreme, not sustainable, and dangerous!

The app was working great until ai pictures were stuck analyzing 100% of the time. I have deleted and reinstalled about 5 times - and it never fixed itself. Unfortunate since it’s a great app otherwise but the pictures are a big reason why I would use this over mfp.

5.7.5 · 2026/03/16 14:59 · Ssd85
I have been following Jeff’s science based tool for a long time so after the app was launched I excitedly got it. I chose 6month paid option to aid with my fat loss journey. As I started using it, I realized the algorithm is all jacked up. My BMR on conservative side is 1700. After a month of regular use, the app’s check in function dropped my cals to 1400. This is ludicrous given the fact that going this low would trigger other medical issues like Thyrodism (Hypo/Hyper). After few weeks of use, I have stopped using this app. The food tracking is also very cumbersome compared to free apps. My recommendation, use a free calories tracking app, do your due diligence in calculating your macros and stick to it. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND this app. This review is only for the app. I still like JN’s science based workout philosophy.

This app is truly designed for real life. The adaptive calorie and macro adjustments based on your metabolism just makes sense. Tracking your macros/calories alongside your daily weight makes so much more sense than tracking movement or activity. All the trackers and estimates of caloric output is such a guessing game. This is much closer to the truth of how your body is responding to training and nutrition. Take that and add intuitive AI augmented features like recipes with a smart AI link importer, quick written descriptions interpreted by AI, AI photos, and a comprehensive barcode database with AI Nutrition label importer - you have an app built for the modern day life. I’ve never enjoyed counting macros, but at least I hate it a lot less when I use MF.

This is a very solid option for tracking macros and calorie intake. The barcode feature gets everything I’ve tried even niche foods that are not name brand. The ai photo is about 80-90% accurate when tracking food at restaurants. And the workout tracker is also great!

Excellent app for its simplicity and ease of use. I find myself returning to it. Would appreciate easier to dial in macro goals for high volume endurance athletes. Would also love to see integration of diet quality metrics such as PREDIMED or AHEI. Easy export of all data would be nice as well.

MacroFactor is a great app for tracking macros! I’ve used other apps in the past and this one has been my favorite so far. It’s easy to use, keeps track of frequently tracked foods and you can easily create recipes. On top of that, the price is very affordable.

I’ve used MFP for years then Lose it! but since MacroFactor came out, MacroFactor has become my all-time favorite app for food logging and tracking body stats. The food database is accurate and easy to search, and the macro/calorie algorithms feel genuinely smart rather than just static targets. What’s taken it to the next level for me recently is the AI food logging feature, especially for eating out. I don’t always remember to snap a photo before digging in, and being able to just describe what I ate and have it accurately estimate the meal has been a huge time-saver. It’s made staying consistent with logging so much easier on busy days or when I’m at a restaurant. Combined with the body stat tracking and trend analysis, this app gives a genuinely complete picture of progress over time. Highly recommend to anyone serious about nutrition tracking.

I’ve tried several different food logging apps and this one is the best out of all of them in terms of accuracy, ease of use, and affordability. Makes logging super easy, the AI feature is surprisingly super accurate and when it’s not it’s easy quick add and estimate macros. The ease of adding weight and progress photos daily helps keep up motivation. The AI’s learning of your metabolism and its adjustment of your macros has helped me meet my goals in weeks, goals that I’ve struggled to hit for years.

It’s easy to think you are eating healthy but unless you are tracking it you are most likely over eating and getting frustrated you are not seeing the s take go down. I’ve been using this app constantly for 3 months the and have lost 15 pounds just tracking my calories and not going over the recommended diet plan the app builds for you. This app is almost like magic, you just need to be honest with the app on what you are putting in your body.

I moved from Cal AI to MacroFactor. I really love it. The interface is so sleek. The Food Log is so so nice and smooth. It works really well. I love all the icons. I do have a suggestion though: On the dashboard, for Daily Nutrition; it would be nice if I could flick back to the previous days. I have very late nights and have to log food. I know I can go to Food Log and do it but being able to see my unfinished day on the dashboard is so much nicer with the circle grid and macros. Once in food log, it’s smaller and I have to go to Nutrition Overview just to see it all better, anyway. Please let us be able to slide to previous days on the main dashboard, not everyone’s day is over at midnight. Thank you! 💪

I’ve been using MacroFactor since it came out and I never plan on going back to another tracker. With how well it knows me, my goals, my daily expenditure, and how they all change with the seasons… I can’t think of any other app I would want to use. I used to always try and manually estimate my baseline calories, but this app takes away all the guesswork and lets me just log and roll. For context, I’m just a “normal guy.” No bodybuilder or anything here. Yes, I’m a personal trainer and nutrition coach so I have an obsession with this stuff, but the ease of the app is incredible and the barcode scanning and AI estimations are the best available at this time. If you’re on the fence, do it. I just wish it integrated with the apps I use in my fitness business more but that’s not even they’re fault 😂

I was getting nowhere, and actually gaining weight when I was guessing at my “healthy” diet. On MacroFactor I lost 35 lbs at a rate of about 1 lb per week. I use MF everyday to track my weight and calories and love it so much. My only request would be to keep expanding the food database bc sometimes I’ll look up something like a fast food item and it will have other items from the restaurant but not that item. Overall though, amazing app.

I used a lot of different apps before, including Noom and MyFitnessPal. This particular app has an extremely clean UI design once you get used to it, and food logging is so smooth. I also really appreciate that you can input a label by yourself if it's incorrect in MF's databank. The adjusting daily calories and learning how you are losing weight also is very helpful, because it doesn't get you into the habit of trying to starve yourself to see the numbers go down, it's a lot easier to see your trend as you slowly drop. I've been using it for about a month and lost about 3 pounds, but it's a lot more maintainable and steady instead of a crazy fast drop. I find this app more neutral to use and looks at basic facts instead of punishing you for going over your macros on certain days.

Jeff is a long time YouTuber who was the first of my generation, that I can remember, to consistently have science-backed videos to refer when looking to optimize your diet and gains. So when I saw that he came out with an app to track macros, I knew it was gonna be good. It’s worked really well so far and has all the features like barcode scanning and recipe creation that make tracking easier. It has a set up process where you add your activity level, goals, current weight, etc that are easily adjustable to changing goals or lifestyle factors. You can even choose certain macros “plans” like higher protein, lower carb, higher fat & protein etc. There is a coach built in to the program that is optional to utilize for weight check ins and other things that are probably useful that I just haven’t explored personally.

…because it offers the user options for the level and type of detail appropriate for their individual interest, personal goals, and level of sophistication. ★★★★★ I’ve tried just about every nutrition and macro tracking app out there, and MacroFactor is in a league of its own. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. I use this app every single day, and it’s become one of the most valuable tools in helping me manage my fitness goals. The food logging is incredibly fast, the database is excellent, and the coaching algorithms adjust to how my body is actually responding instead of relying on generic formulas. What really sets MacroFactor apart is that it feels like it was built by people who understand both nutrition science and real life. The app is powerful without being complicated, data-driven without being overwhelming, and it continually helps me make better decisions without feeling restrictive. The developers are constantly improving the app, adding useful features, and listening to user feedback. It’s rare to find software that is this polished, reliable, and genuinely helpful. MacroFactor is worth every penny. Easily the best fitness app I’ve ever used. Highly recommended.
