I’m extremely disappointed with this app’s subscription practices. I was charged for a subscription that I did not realize was active because it did not appear in the normal subscription management list where I typically review and cancel subscriptions. When I noticed the charge on my credit card and attempted to dispute or manage it through the App Store, the subscription charge did not even appear there, making it impossible to identify or cancel through the usual process. This lack of transparency is frustrating and feels misleading. Users should be clearly informed about recurring charges, and subscriptions should be easy to locate, manage, and cancel. The fact that I had to discover the charge only from my credit card statement is unacceptable. I would not recommend this app until it improves its billing transparency and subscription management process.

I did the test which could tell me what forms of work I can go to and charged me 1.99 at first. Couldn’t even see my results. Then a couple days later, I got a charge for $29! This is a scam. Asked for a refund and didn’t get one just because I signed up through the website. Don’t waste your money. Not worth it!!! Overpriced and a big scam!!!

They double charged me and added unauthorized charges for unknown items. The information was much too broad to be at all helpful also.

Do I have to give a star? Do not get this app. They will charge you just to download it - even though they offer a trial. There’s no trial then you can’t get out of the app. It’s impossible. And I just got charged again. Do yourself a favor. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP.

I signed up for a “FREE” trial on May 12th, 2026 to try out your app. I was charged immediately twice - once for $11.13 and once for $19.99. I cancelled my subscription later, as I felt so scammed by this app that I couldn’t even try out the material. I filled out a survey as to why I was cancelling, submitted reviews, etc. Today, almost a month later, I was charged AGAIN - this time for $28.55 (?!) for another premium subscription. When does this end? I thought I had signed up for a free trial and I have now paid this app all a total of $60 that I feel completely scammed out of. Keep your card far away!

I paid $1.99 for an IQ test result and somehow ended up enrolled in a free trial to a stupid book summary website that I would never knowingly agreed to, followed by a surprise $30 subscription charge. What’s especially concerning is that the company claims literally right here in this app description, “Don’t worry, you’ll receive a reminder before your free trial ends.” That never happened. No email reminder. No warning. Nothing. It’s hard not to wonder whether that’s intentional, since sending a reminder would give customers a chance to cancel before being charged. When I contacted support, I received an automated refusal to refund the charge. The fact that they already have a canned response ready within seconds of sending them an email for this suggests I’m obviously not the first (nor last) person this has happened to. This feels like a classic subscription trap: lure people in with a small one-time payment, quietly enroll them in a trial, skip the promised reminder, then charge a recurring subscription and deny refunds. I would strongly recommend avoiding this app unless what, you really like book summaries(?) and you’re comfortable monitoring your account very closely and potentially fighting unexpected charges.

Absolutely worst app and worst customer service. Charged me for extra services without my consent and is doing nothing to make it right. DO NOT USE

they also delete all progress and notes when you cancel a subscription. ridiculous

Their subscription model includes the Headway app and if you’re not careful, you can easily get conned into a separate subscription for the visualized best Sellers. I found the process of understanding what subscriptions I had and canceling the subscriptions was convoluted. At best. To me, a company who stands behind the quality and value of their product should make it a priority to provide clarity and ease of subscription management for users. Anything less suggests a revenue model that partly depends on the friction built into the system to manage and cancel the subscriptions

Beware of purchasing, especially directly from Headway. They make it impossible to cancel and do not offer refunds.

I paid three dollars for this app to get the results of a political test I took. I did not know that I was signing up for a $30 a month trial. After seven days they provided me not one follow up message before I was charged the $30. Within the hour, I contacted their support page and request requested a refund and canceled my policy myself. I was promptly denied and was told no refund would be issued. It’s very saddening to see such a great app that promotes such great values for parents and kids use shady tactics, and to not help their customers. While it is in the terms of service, it would’ve been great for a heads up or to simply not sign somebody up for a $30 a month program automatically when they get the seven day three dollar trials. I recommend recommended this app to my friends and have just alerted them to cancel their trials as well as they would no doubt I’ve been charged. For a learning app I wish they would learn to be better.

I did the free trial, cancelled before it was over and they still tried to charge me $80.

I paid a small amount of money to review the results of an online assessment. To access the results, I was forced to download an app, review tons of top-up offers (“pay $19 for info graphics!”) and then was encouraged to buy an expensive subscription on the app. When I declined all of these things, I was unable to access my assessment results. I want my $2.00 back.

Wanted to try the app out. It’s decent for summarized books, if you can get past all the soulless AI narrators. What isn’t cool is getting charged for a yearly subscription when you’re only trying the app out. You’ll notice whoever is responding to the critical reviews is giving the same regurgitated reply about this all being outlined in their terms and conditions. Doesn’t sit right and I would beware before trying this app out. You might get charged $89.99 without ever really consenting to it. I’m trying to make this right or will need to consider further action.

This app was promoted as a grief app so I signed up. Once I got into the app, there was NOTHING relate to grief. I’ll be canceling the subscription and hope to get a refund.

The summaries arent detailed enough and I was expecting there to be a wider variety of topics.

Headway is an app that is marketed to improve you but the content on here can be found elsewhere for free and in many cases actually detracts from learning experiences causing you to lose crucial critical thinking skills. Additionally, their app functions poorly at times and causes crashes which I saw when cancelling my subscription. I opted to bypass this by unsubscribing through the App Store. I found that Headway did NOT honor this and charged me again for an annual subscription. I reached out to their support team to ask for a refund for the annual subscription charge that went through just 7 days before and they did not have the decency to issue a refund. Shame on them. I hope nobody uses this sorry excuse for a productive/educational app.

I was looking forward to trying this product with a 7 day free trial but accidentally signed up for 2 additional services with deceptive 1 tap purchase marketing, costing $9.59 and $19.98. I immediately reached out to customer support and was told “Please rest assured that we cannot charge you for something you didn’t agree to” and “Unfortunately, according to our Terms and Conditions, purchases made through the website are non-refundable or exchangeable.” I have deleted my account to prevent further charges from this dishonest company.

I download this app but I don’t remember getting a subscription, they automatically took 89.99 after a few days and I try to contact them but for some reason they don’t have options of contacting them through the app , you have to send a mail to contact them.

I signed up because the offer clearly advertised a discounted price of around $11.13 for one month. Instead, I was charged multiple amounts, including an additional $19.99 charge that I never knowingly agreed to. If there was consent buried somewhere in fine print, it certainly wasn’t made clear during the sign-up process. When I contacted customer service, I was told they don’t charge customers without consent, but that doesn’t change the fact that the pricing felt misleading and far from transparent. A subscription service should make all charges obvious and easy to understand before taking payment. The app itself may have value, but the billing experience completely destroyed my trust. I canceled my subscription immediately and would not recommend it to anyone who values clear and honest pricing.

Very scummy deliberately deceitful app. I only signed up for a free trial in which afterwards I’d be charged about $7.99 a month. They then tried to charge me $90 for 12 months after the trial. Also while I was signing up they slipped in a $25 charge for I don’t even know what. I had my card blocked twice by this nightmare of an app. I would have been a faithful customer had they not pulled this stunt but now they lost my business.

I have tried to cancel the sub 5 times and it keeps routing me back to the “are you sure you want to cancel” I feel like the page is broken ok purpose

My bad I believed that you can have the same value of reading a classic reading a 10 minutes bad resume. The nightmare started when I cancelled my subscription, after that they charged me with 50 usd. and when you try to contact them it is only a mail account that doesn’t work of a company based in Cyprus. Can’t believe this kind of app passed the controls of the Apple store.

I googled an IQ Test, and it led me to Headway. Upon completing it, I was baited into paying $1.99 for results as well as defaulted me into a subscription for this app. The subscription was for a weekly $30, and in order to unsubscribe- you have to login through your email, confirm your account, download the app, go to settings, AND THEN, only then can you unsubscribe out of paying $30 a week for book summaries. $1500/year. I would not have left this review if I could have happily paid for my results and left. For those who may not be technologically advanced, this is a very financially greedy way to get people to subscribe.

The ads and quiz when creating an account in no way indicate that all this is is a book summary tool. What a sucker I am that I subscribed before realizing. And then cancelled within minutes and contacted support, asking for a refund. I was pointed to the terms and conditions and was told they never ever give a refund. Disgusting business practice. If they believed in their product they wouldn’t be afraid of refunds. Tells me all I need to know. Avoid.

Summaries don't get into the meet of the topics, the app is clunky, and it looks like the last 100 reviews are bots. Lame. Waste of money.

No receipt, no way to contact them. They said that there would be a reminder at the end of the trial, and there wasn’t. The content was AI, I canceled the account, I was charged anyhow and now there’s no way to even dispute the charge.

They will endlessly charge you. Add additional products you did not sign up for and customer support claims they can do nothing to help

It wasn’t what I expected when I opened the app. It may turn out okay but I did the three month option. At first glance, I don’t even think I’ll use it.

seems like they just use ai to generate summaries of books. Got high scores on the quizzes but can’t say i’m really learning much. Biggest thing is they trick you into paying for extra stuff like these utterly meh infographics. Lured me in with 13/month and then after the survey i’m suddenly out another twenty for these frills. If you’re not careful you’ll find yourself paying 100$ a month after the first month. Ironically when i went to cancel they offered me the sub for 13/year, i still said no but if you like the app you should do that.

This app is not worth the money. they will also double charge you more than what you agreed to!

Summaries do not provide any real value. They aren’t nearly detailed enough for someone to actually learn something substantial. Do not waste your money on this. I tried to request a refund after using the app for fifteen minutes and cancelling my subscription. My request was denied. Straight up robbery.

this app is absolute trash. After a week of having it, I was charged 90$ and no one did anything to help me get refunded. I never once used the app and have been charged for no reason.

I cancelled my subscription and continue to be charged $14.59 monthly. There is no customer service. Zero. Reporting to consumer bureau. Maybe this will gain attention and a human will follow up with me.

i took the career quiz online and it said it was only 2 dollars. later checked my bank statement and was charged 2 more times for 10 dollars each. they signed me up for a subscription i did not authorize and make it impossible to cancel. this is a scam and has to be illegal.

Charges feel like a scam, beware and take your time reading the fine print. Sad that a good app resorts for this kind of sales pitch and up charge.

Charged me $40 on top of my plan for infographics with no notice. Insane. Cancelled my plan because of this. Want a refund.

I was happy signing up for the regular headway subscription but throughout the registration process (via IG), they trick you into signing up for add ons without clearly stating what they entail or what the cost is. I had to go check my bank details to find that out. It turned me off of the overall subscription too.

Be careful! The subscription setup makes it very easy to accidentally enroll in an annual plan which costs you $89.99!

Make sure to watch your statements! For 5 months I was charged twice each month for the same subscription. When I reached out about it, customer service told me I agreed to it, which is crazy, why would I agree to being double charged. So I quickly cancelled my subscription, so keep an eye out!

Unhelpful videos and a quickly ramping up monthly subscription that gets to nearly $30 a month in 3 months. You will stop using this shortly after getting it then they are counting on you to forget to cancel. DO NOT DOWNLOAD.

Scrolling through this every morning can genuinely help you have a good mindset for the rest of the day. My mood has def improved and I’m doing a lot more self work too which is such a hard yet rewarding thing to do. But through that you show yourself what you can do and you become more confident. Ok sorry for rambling but you get the point. I love this concept for an app and use it everyday now.

I like listening to them on my dog walks in the morning

It would be great if books were played continuously from one to another. When driving or occupied with other matters, I don’t have time to stop and start the next book.

Headway is a quick option for high level overviews. It allows me to find books that focus on my needs for a deeper dive when necessary instead of reading something that may not improve my skills.

The focus I wanted from this app so far isn’t what I feel I am getting. The books are much broader around the topic. I figured with a name like headway it would be more focused specifically.

First time user here! After having read my first summary on morning routines, I found the material helpful and enlightening.

I love the convenience of the shirt summaries. It is wonderful to literally read a book a day or multiple in a day!

doing 7 day trial love the idea of summarized self help books, $89/year price point is high but i will give it the 7 days to see how much i can get out of the program. trying to get off of social media and focus on self help, this would be great for you

Great summary

Their app is not easy to find information on subscriptions. You can email the customer service and they are friendly and responsive to email back with helpful information. I also enjoy using the app. Getting information quick and easy. I would like to be able to make my own playlist though instead of letting the app choose. Just a feedback.
