Decent app but it’s missing too many basics to justify the price. You can’t sort your collections by author, title, genre, or rating — arguably the most fundamental feature of any book tracking app. You also can’t edit calendar entries, which is just odd. And while the app tracks your reading time, what would actually be useful is the ability to create shareable review boards so you can share your thoughts on a book with friends. The fundamentals feel skipped in favour of the wrong priorities. And Goodreads link/book import doesn’t work.

I got this app in hope I could better track my reading and get good recommendations through the AI assistant. With the PAID version you only get so many tokens. Save your money and go somewhere else and use ChatGPT. Cancelled after having the app for 5 minutes.

Needs updates

EDIT: 05/30/2026 STILL MOST OF THE BOOKS WHEN SCANNING THE BARCODE, IT DOESN’T WORK. So annoying. Paying for an app that doesn’t actually WORKS. also I want to add. It have me an option to add the books from Goodreads and when they transferred all the books and I mean all the books I’ve read went straight to the books that I need to read. NOT TO THE FINISHED ONES. It’s a MESS. Soooo regretting this app. So. The app downloaded on my IPAD AND PHONE. When i’m at home I use my ipad to track my reading and when i’m at Barnes or at Library I use my phone. It doesn’t sync devices. So I can spend 2 hrs at the library reading and get home and keep reading and don’t sync. USE ONLY ONE DEVICE. Annoying. Goodreads is more advanced than this. Too bad i bought the yearly subscription otherwise I would gladly cancel. Oh well. Also, STATS don’t sync doesn’t matter how much you read. You can spend a week reading a book and at the end of the week it will just say you only read 2 hrs (my case) and the daily track will show you didn’t read at all. This is weird. GOODREADS is way better than this. Sorry but basic apps win.

Great book I love the plot, characters, and how funny and interesting the characters are.

I used this app the entirety of 2025 and it was the main reason i was able to read as many books as i did (around 50). I LOVED and i mean LOVED being able to track how fast i read and log my reading sessions. now there is a supposed 10 book limit (?) on the entire app?? What am i even supposed to do with that???? i love being able to write thoughts into the app as im reading the book, it makes it so interactive and it’s so fun to go back and read what i was thinking in certain moments. the book limit is definitely recent as i have over 30 books logged on my as completed and the app no longer lets me log anything at ALL. you’ve just ruined this app for me and im sure many many other people that love it. i seriously seriously love this app so much i just can’t help but feel so incredibly sad and disappointed that i can’t even use this app anymore. you HAVE to pay for pro. genuinely got so upset by this restriction i immediately came to write this review. from here on out i’d love it if the developers gave me a recommendation for another app that may work similarly to this one but wont charge me 9 dollars a month to enjoy my reading experiences ❤️🤓

The Goodreads import was a disaster and to top it all off, it couldn’t even find the book I am currently reading that was published in 2025 (a year ago). None of my reading stats came through either, nor did any of the collection tags. Only 7 of the 57 books I’ve read this year are showing up and … I could honestly kill myself for having waisted money on the Pro version. Also …. Where is the social aspect? How can I see what others are reading. Massive thumbs down and I’ll stick with Goodreads even though that apparently is an app for old people

It seemed like a useful app until it constantly asked me to pay for a subscription and wouldn’t let me add more than 10 books without one. Don’t waste your time.

Update 5/22/26 well now I can see the pictures in the rectangles on the home page but the organization is now ridiculous. I’m seeing collections that I don’t need to see when I open the app. I want to see books in progress and now I have to search around for those. This update seems useless and makes this all practically unusable. So much advertising on social media but this app isn’t up to par. I’ll be canceling soon if they can’t fix all of this. You actually changed something that was unnecessary in the first place. Update 4/16/26 I’m still having the same problem I was below and never got a response and but now there something else. After the last app update the three categories that are standard- to read, reading, and finished are just white rectangles with a plus sign in them and below them it reads “0 books.” When you open them up you see all your books. Can this be fixed? I’ve been using Bookly for a few years and enjoy it. I do pay for the “pro” option so I can have as many books listed as I want. My issue is that there is no actual sign in so while it is syncing to my iPad from my phone, it’s only a partial sync. It’s not recognizing that I already pay for a subscription. I cannot find any way to contact Bookly through the app which is weird. How do I get a full sync across my devices?

Every five seconds on the freaking app it’s asking me to rate and right a review. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE. I even tried rating every time I’m on the app. It still pops up. This bug needs fixed

Adding sessions doesn’t work for me and that’s the main thing I need in a book tracker. I’ve used a few others and like them a lot better. This has potential but there’s too many bugs for me.

The new update doesn’t even allow you to update a single or multiple books. It just glitches once you type in or take a photo of the ISBN

I want to like this app but the Apple Watch app is non functional and never syncs to the phone app. Even if you re-install, or force quit both watch and phone apps, it refuses to sync. Also, the Goodreads import didn’t take in start dates read or reviews. Really disappointing.

I’d give five stars but half the app no longer works and when you send emails, all you get is “they’re working on it” but no indication on when it will be fixed. I paid for the app and it is very frustrating that they have wiped ALL OF MY BOOK LISTS. I cannot see my previously read, my current reads, OR THE ENTIRETY OF MY LIBRARY. Bookly, this is UNACCEPTABLE. I paid for this app and it has not worked in at least 5 months. Why say you’re working on an issue and provide no indication on when it will be fixed?????

I lured in with the false understanding that I would be able to import my GoodReads. Naturally you can but only if you pay. In this economy, love that an app is making money off of reading. I’ll still to my free GoodReads because at least they’ve never lied.

I bought Bookly to keep track of my ever growing library. I’m over 400 now. But the bar code scanner only recognizes 1 in 10 books. Leaving me to input manually. That got old quick and I got rid of Bookly.

The app itself is exactly what I was looking for, however, if you want to actually be able to use it efficiently you are required to pay for it. I understand the creators/company needs to make money, but the best apps let you have the basics for free, and prompt you to BETTER your experience through payment plans. The basic functions of this app do not work for free after so much. You aren’t allowed to have more than 10 books in your list without upgrading. Which is fine, I guess. I was willing to reluctantly accept that without deleting the app, until I added a book I had already read (out of curiosity and simply playing with the functions of the app) and realized I had to be a member to even delete books out of my lists???? That’s outrageous in my opinion. Not at all worth it for me. I would consider paying for an app if it didn’t feel like I was required to. Take Duolingo for example: you get the basic functions of the app (language learning, in case anyone didn’t know) for free, then can choose to pay to erase ads, and have extra helpful features available to you. I didn’t feel like I was forced to pay, so I was more willing to. Moral is, if you’re willing to pay for this app, go ahead! It looks like it could be very helpful for any serious reader trying to digitally track their reading. I’m personally going to look for better options.

Love that I can track daily, monthly and yearly goals. I can add so many books. It’s all right there.

Just downloaded this app today to keep track of my tbr a little easier. I wish the free, I guess storage of books was a little bigger but that’s just my preference. Other than that I think this is a really good app for tracking your tbr and how many books you’ve read just not how long your tbr actually is. Oh and I do wish I could see my stats without having to pay for it.

I think they push you to much to try and buy pro but it is fine. The tracking is fun. It has a streak. Adds do occur sometimes not much. It motivates me to read. You also can add outfits to your little helper. I recommend. But a lot of adds have been coming through out the years if useing this app

I got the yearly subscription with the 1 time 50% off for life offer, slightly impulsively. For 14.99, it’s not bad at all. I would love to see more options in the store (maybe a way to dress up or furnish a room for Bloo) and maybe a social aspect to the app (eg, what other people have to say about a book i’m reading, i don’t want this to become another thing to scroll!) I’d also love to see book recommendations become part of the app.

Love Bookly. As a data nerd, I enjoy being able to see how long and what format I’ve read it in.

Bookly is easy and fun to use. Your rewarded with points for reading and the points can be used to purchased different items used in the app. Bookly is also very reasonably priced.

Since I’ve gotten back into reading, I’ve tried to find a way to keep track of all the wonderful books I’ve read, not writing them down lol!! This app is perfect for tracking reading and even give you reminders of you so choose to need one!! Love it love it love it!!

Bruh I love this app so much but for some reason it stopped logging ny hours correctly! It restarts or not logging the hours at all so now instead of the 12hrs it would total more than that. Please fix this because I really love this app.

Amazing app, keeps me organized and I know what I left off on!

I like the way the app offers a variety of reading features and ways of tracking your reading. It kind of reminds me of Duolingo but for reading. I like that you can do a timer and page count because 1) timer can almost act as a phone deterrent if you’re reading a physical book with the timer on in the background of your phone and b) you can see your page progress at the same time. Some people care about page count while others care more about time read. I think it’s a great tool for all ages in getting back into the habit of reading. 📖💕

Would recommend that you could pause and resume a reading session from your Lock Screen, but otherwise no complaints so far.It’s amazing.

I love this app it is so good to track my books. It is also amazing that I can search up books that I am reading in person. The only downside is that is recommends me books that aren’t really appropriate for my age (I’m 13) but otherwise its amazing!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this app!!! It makes reading so much fun! I love that you can add your own books too! Been loving this app WAY more than goodreads lol Plus the more you read every day, the closer you get to a present by the end of the week! And Bloo is such an adorable reading companion! I love that you can customize the app too even the logo!!

I like this app enough to pay for the full version but I really hope they make the UI less confusing and flesh out some of the features more.

It’s great for tracking and fun to use! I wish it was a little easier to figure out but overall it’s a great app. I like the warp ups that tell me how much I read.

If you want to see your reading stats and are fine with starting an in app stop watch every time you read, this app is fantastic. It has many cool features and in my time of having this app, they have consistently added more.

I’m obsessed with tracking my reading and on a whim I got this app and am now attached to it. I love that I can listen to soothing music while I read and I can also see my progress as far as how quickly I am beginning to read. It’s easy to share my progress and completion on Instagram as well with good graphics directly to my story.

Easiest app to track how much books I have

I do pay for the subscription version of this app, so I think that has HEAVILY contributed to my experience with this app. That being said, I’m obsessed with the habit tracking aspect, love that I can more accurately track what exactly I’m reading, and love earning gems to change different features within the app to make it more my aesthetic. I love being able to track daily, monthly, and yearly goals. I also really like that when adding a new book, I can specify how many pages, or how much time, there are in a book, rather than searching for the exact edition on apps like Goodreads. I like the assistant tab, however I feel that it could be more detailed. So far, I’ve participated in two Bookly readathons, which I enjoyed immensely. Readathons on Bookly have certainly helped inspire me to do more reading than my daily goal, which is great (if that’s feasible!). I really like the Stats section and I like that books can be rating with half stars! Yes, half stars!! Overall, I would recommend this app, but only if you plan to use it with the subscription.

This app has been very helpful. It really gets into the details of how you read. I thought this would have been very basic, but it’s not. Worth giving it a shot.

Love all the features this app offers, but there are too many bugs in the app. It takes months to fix them and often times the old bugs are replaced with new ones. For an app with paid subscription, this is frustrating.

It’s a decent app. It does in fact show your books. It’s bloated in some ways and surprisingly lacking in others. In the 22 books I have added to the app, the scan feature has worked for maybe 2 or 3 of them. More than half of them I have simply had to add manually even after the search failed to find them. That is a pretty big downer for me. Additionally I can’t sort books by the categories I created for them. I want to be able to see all history books, all fiction, all science fiction, etc, but no. Why have categories if I can’t search by them? BUT! It will make graphics for you and pester you to share them every time you enter a session or finish a book. Make the features that make the app useful and help you stay organized and navigate the app work rock solidly before bloating the app with sharing and graphs please.

Fun and engaging app to record your daily reading activity

I love this app so much that it’s permanently on my lock screen for easy access. It’s honestly one of the best reading trackers I’ve used. My only downside is missing out on some features because I don’t currently have the subscription, but overall I still really enjoy using it.
