Problem

Opportunity

Strength

Audience

Risk

App

Action

An expensive pedometer

EDIT: for a team that focuses on tracking all this data no not have a dial or an option to adjust ACTUAL sleep times (or in bed times), shift time zones to match body clock, etc, is kind of growing in frustration. Its a true bummer, and has made the ring an expensive pedometer. Original review: Time zone changes. When a person moves through 3 or 4 time zones daily as a flight crew for work, this ring had a difficult time tracking the change at all. It changes the data based on time vs body time. I operate 3 or 4 days a week between hawaii time zone and east coast. Some days my physicsl activity is cut short due to later zone. Would ne nice to have a feature that could see & compare between body clock snd current time zone. Sleep data, is stumpped if you take a red eye, travel, work variable shifts. A “ xx hour flight” to “time zone X” ?

Tech support

7.17.0 · 2026/06/13 19:26 · 😑😑😑🥴

Apparently an update happened where Oura doesn’t work with newest iOS. Zero communication on this. Zero responses from tech support. Zero solutions or communication to provide clarity on a timeline or anything.

Privacy concern: forcing user sharing data to unlock previously working feature

Oura cycle insight that used to work previously stopped working, unless you expose more privacy information. Customer service didn’t provide solution for this except asking you to expose more privacy data. Very disappointing experience for Oura ring.

New design is blocks of mind numbing text

7.17.0 · 2026/06/12 13:17 · schmu_too

1

Useless now. Who thought endless blocks mind numbing text and blank space was a good design change? What happened to the graphs? Except for adding an activity, I find this new look absolutely useless and I can't find any of the at-a-glance info I found useful. I've rarely found the bedtime or other AI suggestions relevant or useful. Now that's the only info I see.

1

I’ll gladly update this review with a fuller discussion of how the ring is working if the developers fix the app so it syncs to a 3 month old ring. For now, this is looking like a poor choice in terms of a very expensive purchase and subscription model.

Plenty of bugs for an expensive product

7.17.0 · 2026/06/12 11:30 · annarslowik

2

For a product that costs 500 euros followed by a monthly fee, this product has many disappointing problems that are simply software issues. Just one example: I want my workouts to be considered in my activity score, which is a main feature of this product, but if I use integrated tracking with Strava they are not considered. There is no reason for this not to work except bad software development.

Battery and accuracy issues

The battery dies alot faster then advertised. It’s ok for the first 3 months then goes down hill. There are other rings out there that don’t make you pay a subscription yearly either. The ring doesn’t seem very accurate.

Bad UI

There is something about the UI that I just don't like. I can't readily find the information O want to find. I also just attempted to do the walking test, and after searching for it for several minutes, it did not work. I clicked the button to start multiple times, and O recoeved no response. I expect more from such an expensive product.

Stopped tracking sleep

7.17.0 · 2026/06/11 14:59 · gabacarin

1

I was loving this app and ring. However my oura 5 and my Wife’s stopped tracking sleep. It even show the heart rate through the full night and it’s clearly my sleeping range, but it doesn’t recognize as sleep. I got very disappointed with trouble shooting. It doesn’t try to do anything on the hardware or software, it just mentions some possibilities that are obviously not the case (I.e., don’t tell me it might be the battery of you have data that shows the battery was more than 50%. Don’t tell me the sensors maybe were not working / I wasn’t wearing it right if it shows my heart rate properly for the full night).

Love it, but Battery dies too quickly

7.17.0 · 2026/06/10 00:48 · Alopez303

2

Got it as a gift for my birthday last year in October. Loved tracking my sleep, stress and having an active goal to push for daily. After 6-7 months of using it regularly(didn’t use it at first as it took awhile getting used to the bulky fit) the battery now only lasts at most 2 days. Hopefully I can use it for some more time before it completely dies :(.

Works except when it doesn’t

1

After a long back and forth with customer service the company line stems to be that when the ring doors bore track my workouts it does not indicate anything is wrong with their product. I have had to verify I was using the product “correctly” (wearing the ring not enough I guess) and that I had not taken it off while working out (in which why would I expect it to work). For the price of the product and with a monthly membership my recommendation is to find another fitness tracker.

Not seeing value, confused how others do

7.17.0 · 2026/06/09 13:26 · noodle42069

2

I plead temporary insanity on why I bought this thing… okay so now you know you slept terribly. Now what? Cool. More pressure to sleep better. It doesn’t even tell me anything about my cycle !!! I’ve had it for months and I still have to manually input when I have my period. I did that with the apple health app. Seriously I don’t understand how people get value out of this. The app has the most basic generic AI driven insights that don’t really provide value. I’m thinking I will sell mine, I just don’t get anything out of it.

I don’t even know where to start . I’ve been an Oura ring user since November 2022. I started off with the first gen and then moved to the 3rd gen. However, I have noticed that once there’s a new model everything crashes. The battery lifetime used to last me over a week . It was the same or even better than a Garmin. But this year I’ve had multiple issues. Battery , tracking, updates with bugs. I’m honestly so fed up that I’m not sure if I’ll renew my membership after this time around. Also woke up to my Oura not tracking any data and with account logged out.

Deteriorated significantly with syncing issues and short battery life

7.16.0 · 2026/06/06 16:49 · BldBernee

1

I wrote a review a while back about how great the Oura ring was but now I can no longer stand behind the product. I got a new ring in December, my old ring wasn’t keeping a charge. The new ring kept a charge for 5 to 6 days but now every 3 days I have to charge it. The other problem I have is I had noticed months ago that the ring wasn’t getting the data from my meditations. I reached out to Help and they asked me stupid questions like if I am keeping still while meditating. So I have a new Oura 4 that’s 6 months old that’s now worst that the 3 Gen. Maybe Oura should focus a bit more now on customer service instead of advertising. I was told that my battery was fine and I can’t get a replacement ring.

Recent Update

7.16.0 · 2026/06/05 17:16 · RaeAnne-86

1

This most recent updated beginning of June has completely wrecked the tracking experience. Feels shady given they’ve just launched Oura Ring 5 and I have 4, would updating my ring which isn’t even a year old going to the “solution”? The app won’t update my sleep data or show anything overnight which is most of the reason I have this ring. The app help bot was useless in trying to troubleshoot it. It is absolutely tied to the update.

Bad Coincidence and timing?

7.16.0 · 2026/06/05 14:29 · dutchie's guardian

1

I think the influx of new issues regarding missing sleep and readiness scores not logging is due to the new release of the Oura 5. This started to happen after the public announcement of the new version on May 27th. I think they want to steer and force users to purchase the new version which is a sinister way to boost sales! EVIL!

Unreliable product

I bought this ring a few months ago to track my sleep. It constantly gets my sleep duration wrong. I’ve compared its results with my Apple Watch, and it performs much worse. The data is unreliable, and I don’t feel I can trust it. I want to get rid of this product and would strongly discourage others from using it.

App Changes

7.15.1 · 2026/05/31 15:41 · Clueless Texans

2

I love my ring I really do, but the recent app redesign is absolutely terrible. I am highly frustrated with the recent Today tab layout. I want the ability to lock the primary half-moon chart on the front page to display my Calories/Activity goal continuously, or frankly whatever metric I care about most. Currently, the app dynamically changes this chart to show Readiness or Sleep, burying the fitness metrics I actively want to track throughout the day. Please add a customization setting that allows users to select a fixed metric for the main home screen visual. It used to show how you were progressing against your suggested daily calorie burn. And now that’s buried somewhere instead. Who cares about my readiness score in the chart, it’s right at the top of the screen already! They have made things so much more difficult to find with the recent app updates, I just can’t stand it.

It’s awful.

7.15.1 · 2026/05/30 21:00 · clin0048

1

The app is awful. The company is awful. The hardware is awful (I’ve received 2 replacement rings in the past couple months due to sudden battery dying!). Their business method of charging to get bare basic metrics are awful. Its workout tracking is awful (it just doesn’t). It’s a fine sleep tracker I suppose? I’m so glad there are other options out there because I’m done with the Oura experiment.

Bad Customer Service

7.15.1 · 2026/05/28 22:23 · Mac Clan CO

Before I purchased a ring I asked the Oura support team if a new version would be released soon and was told not until 2027. Now that I am 1 week over the return window and on my second ring (the first one failed in the first month) I am stuck with the ring 4 that has constant issues. Oura support will do nothing to help as they have moved on to the ring 5.

This product barely seems to really do anything. You buy the product; you buy the Service, and then you discover that really trying to parse what information is relevant and means anything is nearly impossible. It thinks that I’m exercising when I’m sitting it thinks that I’m not exercising when I’m on the elliptical with my heart beating 130 bpm. Also navigating the app is really difficult. I didn’t care enough to write all this voice to text but save your money.

1

I don’t know about you but I have an iPhone and two iPads. Only being able access my data from one device and having to reconnect to the base every time I want data is unrealistic in today’s world. You must be affiliated with Netflix!

Woefully inaccurate. With a subscription charge, even worse.

7.14.0 · 2026/05/25 09:26 · djm10901

1

I’ve repeatedly had Oura classify long stretches of the night as awake when I was clearly asleep. This isn’t a matter of “feeling” more rested — I was asleep, and the ring recorded otherwise. On a recent night it estimated only 5h 26m of sleep while Apple estimated over 8 hours. The problem is that all of Oura’s recovery and readiness analysis depends on accurate sleep detection. If the foundational data is wrong, the analysis becomes useless. Support’s response was essentially to “focus on trends,” but trends are only meaningful if the underlying measurements are reliable. Beautiful interface and interesting insights, but sleep accuracy has been a huge swing and miss for a subscription-based product.

Complete scam - it gets worse

7.14.0 · 2026/05/24 16:09 · Jeremyv10

1

I bought a ring with a prepaid one year subscription. Once I got it, there is no way to access your ring without paying for a subscription that I already paid for. Their chatbot insisted that I give my credit number and pay for a second subscription before it could validate my original prepaid membership. Don’t be fooled into buying a prepaid subscription like I was — the only way you can use the ring is to buy a new subscription once you receive it. Update: I tried to return the ring for a refund and the system says there are no returnable items associated with my order number, so now I’m out $570 USD for a ring and prepaid membership

Nice hardware, but the app makes the data invisible and useless

7.14.0 · 2026/05/24 14:31 · loooookas

1

The ring hardware is great, but the app makes it nearly impossible to actually incorporate your health data into daily life without obsessively opening it yourself. The notification options are laughably limited — you can get reminders to go to sleep and to stand up. That's it. My iPhone already does both of those things without a $300 ring. There are no summary notifications, no morning readiness alerts, no way to get your key scores pushed to you. The widgets are just as bad. Instead of a simple readiness score or sleep summary, you get dense, tiny graphs of REM sleep stages that are completely unreadable at widget size and useless at a glance. There's no option for email summaries, no useful home screen widget, and no way to passively stay connected to your data. The whole value of a health tracker is building feedback loops — but Oura has designed an app that requires you to already be motivated enough to open it every day. If you have that kind of discipline, you probably don't need the ring. Fix the widgets. Add morning score notifications. Let people get a daily summary email. Until then, this is an expensive pedometer with a pretty dashboard nobody sees.

Just disappointed with the ring. I love the idea and have been wearing it for a long time but it's just faulty. I hate having to resync the app. It keeps logging me out. And I've tried getting help from customer service and they can't do anything. I can't advise people to get these and before covid I told everyone about them. And even after I think there is merit to the idea. Just the execution leaves me sad.

Sleep data

7.14.0 · 2026/05/22 19:27 · AppalachianKid

1

I cannot believe I stopped wearing my Apple Watch for this. The sleep data is staggeringly incorrect and there is NO way to adjust your bedtime if the ring didn’t catch what time you went to sleep. For instance, I went to sleep around 11:30pm and the ring said I went to sleep at 5:01am. There’s no way for me to adjust it backwards. These rings aren’t worth it, stick to your watch.

FIX YOUR RIDICULOUS CALORIE ESTIMATES, or make them editable. Absolute no way a man weighing 85kgs can run for 45 minutes at a decent pace and only burn 350 calories. Your estimates are so far off as to be laughable. Calories burned have been editable on the Apple Watch for years. FIGURE IT OUT.

7.13.1 · 2026/05/14 17:11 · Tanya Targett Camacho

1

For your App to work, your ring must have battery, and it must track properly. Mine worked fine Gen 2, Gen 3 but then Gen 4. At just 24 hours old, the ring couldn’t hold its charge, daytime stress wouldn’t populate, and customer service? Well, after two months of back and forth, (they sent me a second hand ring when I purchased new, full price) and five years of customer loyalty and App usage. I’m done. There’s a reason Oura has a 3.6 rating on Google. And I’m surprised it’s even that high.

Going back to Apple Watch

7.13.1 · 2026/05/14 13:14 · TacoTruck23

1

Needing to pay a subscription fee is preposterous. The ring can’t tell the difference between aggressive cycling and exercise and being stressed. You have to manually go in and tell it which one it is. The metrics compared to an Apple Watch are pathetic and you have to pay a monthly fee to get any real usable metrics.

I have to use my old iPhone from two years ago to get it to connect to my ring at all and that’s very inconsistent. I contact customer service multiple times with no response. I would like to figure out how to get this thing repaired or what’s the problem but nobody back. Very very expensive product for a very low amount of data that actually transmits to the app. Why does this bother to record anything if it’s gonna just drag generic data from my Apple Watch? Also after a year, your battery charge tanks and you have to charge this thing every other day. I had it replaced once and a year later it’s doing the same thing. Why is it so hard to make these things not trash? They’re charging 400+ dollars for a tiny little ring made of cheap metal why does the battery last longer than my giant cell phone? App updates are terrible. You cannot find the information that you’re looking for . There’s things I haven’t seen in months since the update. I tried to scroll and it just clicks on something and it goes like four pages into the future and I just want to see the metrics I used to be able to see easily . Please update app so I can actually see my metrics and scores. Scrolling is way too hyper sensitive onto something and goes down a rabbit hole. I can’t look at my scores or evaluations or whatever or find any insight about it. These things are so incredibly expensive and the app is developed by toddlers apparently

STOP CHANGING APP UI

Can we stop changing the app interface every other month? It is unbearably annoying. Find a template and stick to it. Having to search through a whole new UI just to find my data points is tedious. I wonder how Whoop’s UI is………

Update 7.13.1 🚮

Ever since this new update, I find that the app is literally so inconsistent with my data and I hate it. The app has also been glitching as well. Wish I never even updated the app honestly. If I could go back to the previous version I definitely would. Like why is it counting my evening nap as my sleep score after midnight instead of waiting for actual sleep data. I never had this issue before and I would know because I work overnight at a hospital. The app needs fixing at this point when it was fine before the update. Not really happy at all.

Science on readiness score legit?

They have moved on from pushing their glucose monitors on me to an obsession with my heart rate at night. Is this readiness score based in any sort of actual science or just some AI nonsense that gets generated to make people think it is? Scores from 55 to 85 and honestly; my days are the same.

Too expensive for so little

Oura will penalize you for getting good sleep and track your sleep as a nap. There’s no way to edit their error. The app and ring are garbage.

No HRV display

I use HRV to track how rested my mind is moment to moment. Oura lacks display of this metric

A sleep app and company that refuses, as a policy, to allow logging all-nighters. If you want to get a handle on your sleep health, look elsewhere. Because getting no sleep gets ignored by the app (there is no way to work around this), all of your sleep data will be artificially inflated. Fail to fall asleep Monday but then get 8 hours the next day because of the exhaustion? The app celebrates your great sleep health and reports a weekly average of 8 hours of sleep. 🙄 Edit: My new Oura Ring 4 (6 months old) now holds charge for ~24 hours. Fresh out of the box it held charge for ~2.5 days. Do not waste your money.

Only provides flat data, no actionable insight at all

Why don't you leverage user personal data with AI to ship actionable insights, instead of only surface flat data& your useless "ai advisor"

Ring never syncs/losing important data

I’ve barely had my ring for a year and it keeps not syncing any of my sleep data which I need for my natural cycles. I got this ring because it’s supposed to be a reliable product for my fertility tracking and now it’s causing major issues. I’m shocked that such an expensive product could have such a short shelf life. The battery also barely lasts a day. Really disappointed.

Cool but not long lasting

I’ve enjoyed using the ring and learning from the data. It seems that the battery degrades quickly. I think you get one replacement then you’re on your own. :-/

They sent the ring with 40% battery charge. In the first hour it dropped to 19%. Using the app I tried to get help. The AI bot walked me through the process. After 7 hours it barely charged. Then it started losing charge. I never reached a live person and the app couldn’t help. No live person ever joined the chat.

So they promise 5 days without charging. But that’s a lie. After 8 months of usage all is see from this app is I need to charge it EVERY DAY!!! Will not recommend and repurchase until this is solved

Meh

This ring is EXPENSIVE! The app is mediocre but once you stop paying for it, there’s no point in even wearing it. It tells you maybe 4 things and you can’t even click on them. Wish I would have gone with the TikTok brand.
