App is okay it does what you want it to but they will charge you subscription re-ups in perpetuity (I did direct with their site through stripe) without a hint that they have done so nor that you have indeed been resubscribed nor that any payment issues have occurred. and now I have to get my credit card replaced cause of their unauthorized charge. Someone thinks this is a good way to make revenue - that person needs to know how stupid that choice is. Please do not give these people your money.

I never have done all the lessons it says to unlock premium and it cost money

Literally u can just play 5 songs but at the fifth one it tells u to subscribe to continue playing and it’s soooooooooooooooooooooo annoying 😡🙄🙄🙄🙄

It’s really good at teaching fundamentals but not as fun. You should allow more songs early on.

Was called by my bank for fraud and though it wouldn’t be because I wanted trial and monthly subscription BUT THEY flipped it to a YEARLY subscription over $200 I now have to get this developer to cancel my subscription or I will have to dispute it with bank and developer for full refund. VERY VERY deceptive. Cancel and refund me!!

I thought that they treated you better now but no, THEY TREATED YOU WORSE! You can’t even play one song after the lesson unless you have premium. The premium is over $20, that’s 1000 in Philippines money. They treat you like a thin piece of bread, DONT DOWNLOAD IT!

Mostly everything fast the introduction costs money and it only lets you play like 3 songs for free.

Running the latest version 9.10.71 and the latest iPadOS versions 26.5 for MD7G4LL/A and MH304LL/A. My MQF02LL/A uses iPadOS 17.7.10 where I am unable to upgrade any further the OS. On MQF02LL/A the app works great until I get to the song select screen where I am unable to scroll sometimes either vertical or horizontally to find a song of interest. Since the experience was so bad on my old iPad I bought a new MD7G4LL/A. The scrolling was great to find songs but when I went to play songs the auto scroll while learning resulted in the grand staff to jitter when playing notes. I don’t use MIDI and rely on the microphone of the device. I figure some task is operating too long on main or something with iPadOS APIs has changed drastically. I figured maybe the a16 with the latest iPadOS combination was broken and then proceeded to buy a MH304LL/A. Now the navigating for songs and auto scrolling works great and the grand staff jitter is imperceivable. If you would like me to help let me know ;) great app and will change to 5 stars if you can help with the navigation for looking for songs for my ancient iPad.

After the latest update, the notes from my piano are constantly not getting picked up. Was working great for 5 months but suddenly stoped. In a quiet room, same piano, volume turned up. Even restarted my iPad. I was really enjoying the app, but recently it’s very frustrating to use. I have a Yamaha N1X - midi Bluetooth not detected, even though I can connect my iPad. Wired USB also not working.

- Doesn't work on Mac - When I downloaded the app on my ipad, there is no piano sound when playing in the intro activities. This may be different in the other activities, I don't know because they were locked. This is not intuitive. - There is no playhead in videos, so I have to watch from the very beginning to the end to go to the next activity.

When ever I make I mistake it starts me over and I’m so angry at the game I just ish I can hit it in the face

It asks me what song I want to play. I pick riptide by Vance joy. We finish the basic steps and foundation to know how to play the piano. I click next to play the song and you have to have premium to play it. I’m like okay I’ll play something else. I click the songs icon and it say I need to buy premium for this. I absolutely hate this app don’t buy it’s. Oh and I forgot to mention that premium is 18$ for one person.

It took about an hour to figure out how to unsubscribe, and I never fully figured out where the subscription was through. The app is completely different from iPad to phone. You access different things depending. Stupid.

Every time I tried to play this app it didn’t let me play like when It was asking me questions. I told it that I did not have a piano and it still didn’t give me a piano on my phone and was like so bad and I couldn’t even play !!!!!😡😡😡😡😡😡😤😤😤😤😤

Dear Simply Piano Team, I have been a loyal user of Simply Piano for nearly three years. For me, practicing piano every night has been the happiest part of my day and a ritual I truly cherish. However, after the latest update, the classic purple background was replaced with a bright white one. To be honest, this change has been very distressing. The white screen is quite overwhelming and even makes me feel a bit dizzy while playing. More importantly, it has completely disrupted my mood for practicing. Today, I couldn't even finish a single song before having to close the app because the joy was simply gone. I am writing to sincerely request an option in the settings that allows us to choose between the original purple theme and the new white one. Please help us long-term users bring back the atmosphere we love so we can continue our musical journey with joy. Thank you for your time and for such a great app

I got my first keyboard a few days ago. from the start, i really wanted to become a pianist or learn how to play songs that i love. i downloaded simply piano today thinking that it was free. i played with joy, learning to read the sheets. i got overjoyed when i could finally play ode to joy! the last lesson i could learn finally came and i was so happy! until i saw a whole ad. i was praying i wouldn't need to pay as i cannot pay for anything on the phone. i click on the lesson and they ask me to get a subscription. this was the perfect app to learn piano and i was so happy but way to go! i get it takes effort making this app and everything but i really wanted to play piano, why cant anything help me? apps are all just money hungry and emptying out a wallet. learning something new should be free once you got the equipment to. this was a really good app for anyone wanting to learn any instrument but in the end, nothing is free.

They have a WHOLE button for support on note recognition but not a single button of reseting the recognised notes. I started recently and I pressed the wrong middle C button and instead of having a seamless manner of changing the recognised notes, it has a whole support which I wouldn’t need had I have the ability to change my middle C. So I went to the support and this guy, Oscar, needed constant reminders to explain to me the simplest thing. How do I reset my key on the app. He asked for video evidence of what is going on???? Just put a button to enable a note recognition reset so I won’t have to talk to this Oscar fella or anyone like this.

The notes recognition system is not working properly. For this reason, I contacted customer support number from SimplyPiano and she said that she will ask their developer and give me the feedback after two days but after two days I didn’t get any response from SimplyPiano and now I am trying to contact the customer support of SimplyPiano so I’m not able to contact any of the member. So they’re making fraud I asked them to refund my money so she said she will refund my money. If the problem will not get solved but she’s not responding and I’m not able to contact any of the team members this is the worst app I have seen on the App Store. I took one year of subscription, I need my money back.

So basiclly I am a piano player and this app is really trash! I used to use this app and yes it was fun until I got real lessons. This app uses backing track music which makes it sound like u playing but ur probably playing cords. The money spended on this is mouth dropping. It’s like 100 bucks for this app and when u get lessons it’s probably the same price but at least u get more out of it. The adds that simply piano makes r just ridiculous. Anyways, the app is kinda trash so I recommend not buying this app and I suggest that you go u ur local piano teacher and get proper lessons. By the way Simply piano if ur reading this pls improve the adds and pls teach real piano. Also if ur letting ur kid on this which is okay just be reminded that in like 2 clicks they could be on games in 2 seconds. So pls get a real teacher and hear their opinions! I am just a small musician but at least I know something about real lessons and pricy lessons. Not making a frame that simply piano is trash but just stating that Simply piano just have to level up that realistically and make sure that what ur teaching is proper and right. Also just for a tip to at least make ur app approachable to piano teachers make sure to let ur piano lovers understand on finger rounding and pointy fingers. Hi I am shanvi and I am from India lucknow I downloaded this app because I have a great interest in piano and I heard about it and people say it is good but it is all fake I started to learn piano 1day ago and when it tells about the e and d I get confused so I think what it should answer my question but there is no way I can get help in starting it is a bit difficult when the song goes it’s running so fast and by the time I understand the notes it goes away the and it cost money on an iPad but not on a phone why ,make it free on an iPad also some people want to learn piano but there parents don’t have money for it I am not just saying for simply piano but for all apps we want to learn piano but we can’t now your piano learner’s will sone live you they will give money but not forever to all of you guys reading it please delete it there are better apps

My understanding about the message from your advertisements is for the time I have spent, I might have been at least 1/4 is good as your performers or I can say actors in your advertisements. I feel very disappointed about your product. Or maybe it’s just because I don’t fit your product. I should have known no product applies on all people. I won’t recommend anyone to use Simply piano. I am really angry and disappointed. This app is so good and already made me learn the first 5 notes and it would get 5 stars but I didn’t even get to play one song because you have to play money and it is really expensive who would buy that not everyone is billionaires! It gets a one star my family are going though a lot right now and can’t afford that and I was really excited to play I am so disappointed that I can’t even play just because we don’t have money that is really annoying that you make us pay so much. Ik you have to make money some how but why so expensive. And I only got the learn 5 notes and not even one song. Like jesh. I just really wanted to play the piano. And no I can’t. I was really excited. It is so expensive. If you HAVE to keep it having to play at lest make it cheaper or like us play 5 songs or even 1. Like it would make so much more people happy and don’t you want people to be happy and want to play. You are crushing people dreams just because they can’t afford you over priced game. The worst apps I ever purchased. Having problem since day 1 but I’m not aware as my daughter didn’t make any complain. On March this year, 4th month after subscribed. My daughter asked me why she can’t access some features or songs to learn. After she had move up a few levels. Only I realised that the apps she used didn’t login with any user ID and can’t access any premium features. I tried to login with my own registered ID, it prompted “This account already exists, please enter new email or contact support to use existing account”. Contacted support team since then, along the way they asked repeated questions like proof of purchase, try login again or perform restore purchase. But still cannot solve the problem. Their response are very slow, need to wait few weeks only reply my queries. The email address that the support staffs used are their internal email address. Can’t reach them when I reply (email invalid), need to use the general support email when reply. Due to this, every time different people answered my email. They don’t take my issue seriously as they might know that they just need to ask or answer me once. Next email will be different people need to answer. Until now, August 2020, they still can’t solve my problem. Already more than a month no response from support despite I have sent few emails to them. I told them that I already give up and ask for refund also nobody reply my email. I can’t believe I need to experience this kind of treatment from them. The are gangster now, robbing my hard earn money and provide no value app for my daughter to use. She also almost give up on learning piano. So sad I need to choose minimum a star only can submit review. For me, no star should I choose.

Not only did I have to buy a piano I also have to pay 100$ a month to play a real song horrible

As a 60-something who had always wanted to play the piano, I decided to use lockdown to try to do just that. So I invested in a digital piano and Simply Piano. At first I thought the app was great, actually got me playing a few tunes but then the cracks started to show. There is a complete lack of theory - now what I want to do is play tunes, but you really do need some background to what you are doing. Secondly there is often a gap in the teaching. For example when moving on to hands in the e position, there is no instruction at all about how or when to combine c&e positions. But the thing I find most frustrating is the complete lack of flexibility in what you are playing. While each song has a practice section, I want to be able to choose to just play the top line, or just play the bottom line of the whole song but you can’t do that - if you try you just keep getting taken back to the start. Also I would like to be able to play a song though to the end, mistakes and all, and then go back to the beginning, not just be taken back a bar or two. Also if you get the timing wrong, it counts as a wrong note so you don’t know if you’ve hit the wrong note or just too soon or too late. It is just too inflexible, no customisation and I deep down don’t really think I’ve learnt anything. I’m in danger of not trying any more - the cover hasn’t come off my piano for a wee.

So this app could work for you but for me and my brother it made it more difficult. We did everything it asked and the microphone was on and everything! It kept on saying that we where playing the wrong notes when it clearly tells you on the practice of the notes it was correct yet when we played it to the music ( and the right timing) it was incorrect so we got our older sister to come and play this song ( because she has performed it at school ) she played it perfectly yet it said she didn’t . So me and my brother started an experiment one of us ( me ) used a book on music to learn piano while the other used the app . 4 weeks went by and I learned so much from the book but on the other hand my brother struggled learning so we even asked our dad to learn with him on simply piano and even he was struggling ! 5 weeks into learning I could play so many songs and knew so much about the keys I needed to use on a piece of music but my brother has to get stickers to go on the keys so he knew which ones are which . I performed some of the songs at school to my howl school and they loved it but my brother was still learning how to play simple songs like amazing grace . But he finally got 2 songs out of it and he was happy but he told me not to say it’s good because it took him 6 weeks to learn 2 song . So if you wanna download this I’m not stopping you but remember there is always books of music to learn from too !

まず譜面通りに弾いても間違いにされます。 逆に間違えて弾いたと思ったら なぜか正解になります。 意味がわかりません 最初はものすごいシビアなのかと思ってましたが あまりにもおかしいので DAWでリズムと譜面を打ち込んで スマホに聞かせたら やはり、間違いにされまくりです。 自分はiPhone XRを使用し、 ピアノはDAWから出し使用していました。 勿論、ピアノのチューニングなどは 変えていません お金の無駄でした。

While it seems good, useful when expire it’s auto resubscribe. I had tried to unsubscribe but no unsubscribe option on both this app and iTune . It seem this app try to steal my money anyway i told my credeit card bank to block the payment Not recommended!

I said I had a lot Ed experience with piano, still put me in the category of learning C and D position. Horrible. When I was playing the tutorial just to see what was next, it took FOREVER! The app is so sensitive and I was pressing C and D but it never picked up the sound even thought it was RIGHT beside the piano. Not recommended.

I could not stand this app whenever I played it correctly because I have some experience it would not read the notes I finished I have some experience and it wouldn’t help me because the things it was telling me I already knew I definitely don’t recommend this app

All they want to do is teach you a little bit so you want to keep going then they charge you... don't be fooled this app isn't even close to free

The best one im alredy learning since much

I thought that this learning app would help, but sometimes when you’re playing it will not do the key you hit, so it makes it wrong. And I think someone should look into that and fix it soon. Another reason is that you have to buy premium to get access to a lot of tool/ songs, it’s not too bad because 7 day free trial. In all words this app is good but needs a couple tweeks. Edited to add that you can eventually get a human response, but you have to go back and forth with AI first, which wasn’t the case before. Sometimes new concepts get put into practice songs without lessons on them, and you do need a human response to teach or explain further. It used to be that you could chat with someone helpful whenever there was a problem. Now, you just get an AI bot.

It’s a great app it’s my first day and I already know 3 notes

I like that it correct you in real time. This helps you build confidence , help you know where you need to put more effort and you stop in real time and you look at it and you ask yourself why is this happening and the answer is right there on the screen your fingers and your keys are not moving in the right sequence. I love it.

I got this because it said that it had a couple things to pay inside it. I thought like any normal app it would let you play extra songs teach you a little better if you did a premium but no you have to pay for everything. It did teach me little then I went to play the song and I couldn’t. It did teach me so if you want to pay I’m not saying that it was that bad. That just you have to pay a lot of money. And that’s not worth it to me.

I have the subscription which isn’t cheap and it maintains a local profile. Why is it necessary to enter email address. This is for my son Ian’s I do not want his email address anywhere

This is the best app ever I have been playing it. I have been taking real piano lessons and I don’t do it in the summer so if I want to do it in the summer and learn real songs, then I just go on this so if you want to learn piano, you should get it!

As a 10 year old I wanted to continue learning piano. I then realized the app was not free. very mad. 1 star and 30 some dollars a month. crazy

So far I have been able to go from zero experience to a high intermediate level in terms of playing the piano following the courses, I just wish there were variety of songs to play. Mainly outside of the typical popular songs. I’m talking about anime, foreign music, and cinema.

This game is good for teaching kids notes but there is one misplacement in the started session when You are playing the right note It is not counting it or it is saying it is incorrectly

This is a great app so far. My five year-old and I are both learning piano together. It doesn’t get boring like I thought it might. The app and course is obviously well-designed to combat this. It mixes in playing along with music very well within the lessons to show you the fun and the progress you’re making. You also receive badges, which my son loves. Thank you Simply!!

I’ve always wanted to learn to play piano, but I just don’t have the time to take lessons. This has allowed me to just spend 10 to 15 minutes a day practicing piano and I have already made a lot of progress. I also love the way the lessons build on each other. Oh, and the drawing app is great too!

I had piano lessons when I was in second grade. I cannot have them anymore, but I found this app and decided to try it. It teaches you new skills, starting from the basics to the more advanced courses. There are a variety of songs, including those in the Songs section and Play section, which makes it really entertaining to interact and learn with this app. Until just now, I realised the devs are loyal (I never really realised, haha). I requested a song and after around a week, I already found it. I can also see that they definitely go over their reviews given by customers. As a fifth grader, I think the level for me is just right. It was not too easy nor too challenging. I was surprised at that because I thought the age thingy at the start when the client would make their account was just a filter for songs that could potentially be inappropriate for their age, but now I think the courses change to the typical level of piano skills (if you get what I mean) for the age given. Despite the paywall, I still think the app is worthy for a good review. I think it is totally reasonable to purchase the subscription fee, as the features of this app are awesome once you pay.

I've been using this app for several years and its generally quite good. However, it has one major flaw in that it seems to be designed for kids rather than adults. And I don't mean elderly but even middle-aged adults. Many of the songs and practice sessions seem to be fast or extremely fast or you can't "pass" them as intended. I have no intention of becoming a concert pianist nor do I ever need to play songs that are so fast-paced even the piano keys can't seem to keep up, never mind my fingers. I suggest they introduce categories for players such as under 12, under 40, under 60 and 60 and above, or something along those lines so the practice sessions and song selections match and are more suitable. Maybe even a checkbox indicating if you want to become a concert pianist or not because I certainly don't. I'm learning this for fun. The developers might be surprised to learn that there really aren't that many kids interested in learning the piano anymore or even that many kids in general these days compared to adults.

Generally speaking this app has been great for learning piano on my own as an adult, and makes it easy to do a little bit each day and keeps you engaged. I especially love that it makes it possible to learn note recognition and playing skills but keeps music theory as an optional lesson. Definitely works best if you spend time on each lesson and learn a few songs at that skill level before moving on, but makes it easy to reach your skill level quickly and then change the pace you learn from there. My biggest complaint is the note recognition with an acoustic piano, some of the time it could very well be that my piano is due for a tune up but in the sheet music feature it’s especially wonky. When I play notes individually it will highlight that I have the correct notes but won’t register the chord when I play the notes together, even when Ive used a noise cancelling mic. Sadly this makes the sheet music feature mostly useless and it would otherwise be one of the coolest parts of the app. My other complaint is that while you can take lessons that focus on chords, all of the songs outside of the ones you gain through chord courses are for two hands with a lead melody over chords. It would be nice if I could choose accompaniment options instead of just “essentials” and “intermediate” options on the extra songs.

This app is good to start learning how to play the piano. but it’s not a good replacement for getting a music teacher. Besides, the songs feature when playing the song is not the real song sung by the artists, and instead someone else sings it . I remember a few years ago that the songs were original and not reproduced, and this has greatly disappointed me . The quality has also reduced, with them using AI images for some of the covers. It ‘s definitely not the same it was 　😔

In first grade, my daughter started taking 30 min of piano lessons per week as one of her schools’ extracurriculars. By the end of the year, she had beautiful technique, but could only barely play short simple songs (<30 seconds) with slow quarter notes. My husband and I are musically inclined (we play drums/bass guitar/cello for fun at a pretty high level, but know little about piano and weren’t totally thrilled about her liking piano). But bc she likes it, we support it. About 6 weeks ago, in the summer between 1st and 2nd grade, she really missed going to piano class so I got her this app. WOW. It was like pouring GASOLINE on a FIRE. She became ADDICTED to the app and piano (we now give her a 1 hour piano time limit on weekdays and 2 hours on weekends— otherwise she’d do nothing but play piano). She is now playing longer songs (>3 min) with 16th notes. She just saw her piano teacher for the first time this year (she’s now in 2nd grade), and she was in disbelief how much she has improved. The app has limitations (I think my daughter having a foundation in piano really made this work), but wow has it been a game changer. It took her all year to go through a few pages in her fundamental piano book, she’s now ripped through the first two books in her first 2 weeks back at school. She’s now able to play things by ear, sight read like it’s nothing, etc. I don’t think this app would have been as successful with her not knowing the fundamentals, but wow, so grateful how happy it’s made her.
