used to be unlimited notes when i used it for years but there are limited notes now 💔

This app was my favourite app for over a year, because it was free, had good interface and was so well organised. Now i have to pay for a membership if i dont want to see ads every time i open the app. This app is NOT FREE anymore, so disappointing.

To be honest, I was really looking forward to using this app as it’s rated highly and had many positive reviews but don’t be fooled. The app name is misleading and ironic since it’s NOT FREE and only limits you to three notes before you have to upgrade - which for me, is honestly so disappointing and annoying because I download these apps so I can store revision and past papers. I also find that the tools are difficult to use and there’s not enough guidance as to where features are. Sorry, this app is not for me and I wouldn’t recommend downloading - there are many more honest apps. I would suggest the app actually lets users know that there are in app purchases instead of leading people on into believing this app offers unlimited free note access.

I have my alevel in 4 days and this app decided to delete all my essay plans randomly. All i did was zoom out and it deleted everything, hours of my work. Do not use! Wow i am so disappointed

I bought a lifetime plus plan back in October.When checking the subscription they had change it to a yearly subscription, despite when paying they advertised lifetime. Check with others I wasn’t the only one .

really good, so happy its free, but the ads have now come and are bit annoying, but only when u open the app so totally fine. amazing app, amazing features, hopefully stays free forever. edit- now you have to pay for this stupid app I hate it now why title it Freenotes when you know damn well that it’s not free this is so unfair. it’s getting even more unfair having to pay to make notes. this is not ok for students, i really believe that you should change the name from free notes to pay notes. it’s ridiculous…

Turns out Freenotes is not free! Only three notes for free, should be called Threenotes. I understand having paid features but calling your app Freenotes and not having a usable free version is almost comedy.

Ok so when I got this app I was really excited because it looked amazing but when I opened the app all the ‘baseplates’ could only be accessed by money and I’m not going to spend like £20 on something like that. This app is not for me and I will not be using it anymore

The new update means that the app is no longer free. Completely understandable as it is a good app, even if it’s name is literally FREEnotes. However my issue was that once the update came to my app, i didn’t even get the option to pay for a membership. It’s just stuck on the thank you page. I can’t access ANY of my school work and notes which were incredibly important this week. I reached out for support over email as it was urgent. Replies were slow and it is still not resolved almost three day later. I desperately need my school notes back for my exams! This couldn’t have happened at a worse time and the AI generated support email was not incredibly helpful. Please reply to the emails urgently and fix this!

It used to be free but after adding the 3 notebook limit it feels just like any noting app and the name isn’t it supposed to suggest it’s free??? I just find it contradicting

This used to be free like it should be as the name is literally called FREE notes so why do we have to pay to add a new notebook. There is now loads of ads and it just ruined the whole app.

This app used to be free, now it’s telling me I have to pay to get more notebooks. Will be deleting this app. I am rather disappointed as I always used this app as a study resource. And let me guess, you are gonna reply to how it improved, well no I don’t want that I want the old one back that worked perfectly well, would not recommend this app to anyone. This app is not free so it should not be called free notes, it’s just a rigged name for people who want free stuff. Used to be my go-to app for annotating notes , Had used it for two good years but now they have started giving so many ads it’s hard to complete one task on this app without breaking workflow. Have to watch minimum to ad’s to open a file. Frustrated and deleting it.

It isn’t free only can download for free can only have 3 notebooks but for anyone other notebooks types or a planner yu must pay over £5

I used to be able to whole heartedly state that Freenotes was the BEST app to make notes, This app WAS amazing until the update, paying to be able to have more than three notes or paying to be able to import a file of a certain size is absolutely ridiculous. Now I can whole heartedly state that Freenotes is the WORST app to make notes, If you’re a student looking for an app to use for studying don’t waste your time with this. DO NOT RECOMMEND¡¡¡

Don’t have the cheek the call the app Freenotes when you’re making us pay once we’ve reached three notebooks, disgraceful. False advertising. Really liked the app but exploiting users in an economy like this is disgusting.

Was really good until they got money hungry. The app isn’t “free” anymore they’ve limited to amount of notebooks to 3 which isn’t nearly enough where you then have to pay, the app is filled with adds and is no longer great anymore Don’t bother with this !!

Why is it called free notes when u have to pay to add notes. It used to be free which was amazing you could add as many notes you wanted now you can’t. Please bring back free notebook.

When i got this app it lived up to its name, a great free app with brilliant features. But now they have made you pay for over a certain amount of notes, which goes against the whole premise of FREEnotes. I understand that any app has to make money somehow, but dont charge for essential features, only small extras, otherwise what is the point of being called freenotes. Theyve turned into a car crash and turned away all their loyal users.

I used to love this app. I used it for all my revision. But now, it’s like the devil. It takes away my joy and happiness that i find in revising as when i go to add another file/note after I’ve used 3, it asks for me to pay. This is the type of greed they talk about in the bible. I am just a student who wants to succeed in school and sometimes that means going back to look at my old notes to see progression. However, I can’t do that because whoever runs this app ensured i must delete all 3 notes so i can add new ones. So now i cant check my progress.

I just updated this app and now on every page there is a very annoying pop up that says to upgrade to pro.I have not seen any other app do this and it’s quite frustrating when I have already payed when this app used to be free hence the name Freenotes.I hope they change this back as I just want to study without distractions.If users do want to change their plant they will. Just please do not show it on every page gosh. Customer experience is getting worse and worse with this app.

I had previously left a glaring review, praising the app for its free features. Well…. Seems it was just bait and switch. Disgusting treatment towards people.. deleted it and not looking back

Not free anymore trash

I’ve had this note app for two years now and it use to be perfect, however I recently updated the app and now whenever I press quick note on any of my folders it comes up with a screen asking me to pay for a subscription. Like what. This use to be the only good free note app and now I can’t even use it for quick notes. If your going to make me pay add new features don’t just start removing old features for premium that’s no longer premium

when I try and open the app it that’s me through the introduction and only to the payment bit it won’t let me press continue? I’ve deleted the app severel time and shut down my iPad but nothings working. It’s like the screens frozen

Why are you called Freenotes? If your notes aren’t free? This is false advertisement and I don’t condone it. I downloaded this app so that I didn’t have to use Goodnotes because you only get three free notes and guess what? I open the app to see that you also only get three Free notes on this app even though the name says Freenotes. This is completely unacceptable and I think that you should really change your pricing on your name if you really want to be seen as true as a true note taking platform ???

Fix the update it’s absolute garbage, why be called free notes if everything costs money? I study three subjects and I can’t even fit one into three notebooks otherwise there would be over 1000 pages, no jokes. Plus 20 minutes a day?!! Who and I mean WHO has the ability to be able to make all their notes in 20 minutes a day for that day because I certainly couldn’t and I’m a fast typer. If you’re reading this review I beg, stick to paper this app isn’t with your money or Time!

When opening for the first time it goes through pages to show what it can do, then get to the page showing the paid option and will not let go passed without paying

It’s tries to hard and I couldn’t for ages work out how to remove an image, not intuitive and cluttered. Subscribed for a year won’t be using it much.

Why would anybody call an app free then demand money every month to add notes when it’s called “FREEnotes”. No student has the money for 7 pound a month or 30 pound for full access there are other free alternatives that are just as good

For an app called free notes this is very ironic and once you use the limited features of the app, it then eventually asks u to start paying to upgrade to use the basic features. Absolutely disgraceful and I’m beyond upset as I thought this was free BECAUSE OF THE APP NAME. I am just a struggling student trying to use this app for my a levels and now I am very mad.

Whatever you do, don’t upgrade or you lose access to your notes that’s what everyone is saying. So I have not upgraded and I have access to everything and it’s still free although because it’s a brilliant app I decided to pay for The lifetime but they are so terrible that it seems from the reviews, they even disregard the lifetime payment and force you to pay so like I said do not upgrade or you lose it all.

i’ve been using freenotes for the past 4 years and i had absolutely no complaints. It’s such a good app so easy to navigate around. Now it’s asking me to pay money to make more notes. and if i delete previous notes it still doesn’t allow me to add more! Please change it back to how it was. Thank you

You get about 5 free notes to be used and after that you have to pay. It’s a money making scheme and useless. There are so many other alternatives, don’t bother wasting your time, especially if you’re a student.

this is officially the downfall of your app , a few months ago i had been using freenotes as it was convenient and efficient rather than using pen and paper. The app was great but up until this past month they have changed the feature which brought every one of us to downloading this app , the fact that it was FREE. Us STUDENTS cant pay for an app to simply study. Why call it freenotes if you had the plan to get us hooked ,then switch to subscription?? I think this is where your app goes downhill and unless there is no further change , don’t expect to be on the rise. When i first heard of freenotes i decided to give it a go , and sooner or later it was my new form of taking notes. The format of the app was good, it was organised and i had no complaints whatever , it had cool features and the ability to export your notes into pdfs and whatnot , THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM UNTIL U DECIDED TO DO THIS!! CHANGE.

One star because you have to pay

I thought this app was great, so great that I actually paid £10 to remove ads like a month ago. HOWEVER, a recent update has changed to a subscription model to remove ads instead of a one time purchase and now I’m back to seeing ads even though I’ve already paid to remove them. If I get my money back I’ll delete this review, until then I would recommend people do not use this scam of an app.

This app used to be so good and useful for studying until it is no longer free? Why is there now only 3 notes you’re allowed to add?? If you change the fact that it isn’t free anymore, change the name too as how can it be called Freenotes now?? For anyone wondering I’ve switched to notes+ which seems to also be quite a good alternative

Change the name of this app to just notes, remove the free if you’re going to charge a subscription for notes. Do not think for a second you can charge people for an app that is run off AI.. Time to move onto the next note making app I am sooo disappointed

The new update PRE SELECTS A PAID VERSION and there is no way to select the free version. There is only continue button and a very difficult to see exit button. There are annoying popups about upgrade covering the screen. Everyone wants money I get it but dont be calling something free notes and then annoy the users if they just want free notes.

I don’t know why you have done this to me. You’ve decided to make it have a limit to how much I can import and that’s seriously unethical and unprofessional I’m fuming. I need this for my future and you’ve stripped away all my abilities to do well in life, I don’t know why you have done this, you were my holy grail and I have recommended you to my good friends because I had loved you so much. Not anymore. I now have 2 more imports until I can’t anymore, how could you do this to a loyal user. I feel ashamed, hurt and most of all disappointed. why am i paying for notes

I’ve been using freenote for ages and it’s been my go-to and I’ve recommended to others but now you have to subscribe to make notes?? You get a stupidly low amount of free ones, and now I have to switch all of my notes to another app. Corporate greed is outrageous.

I’ve been using FreeNote for a long time and it used to be one of the best free note-taking apps on iPad. But after the recent update, most of the features became locked or limited unless you pay for a subscription. This change feels unfair to loyal users who supported the app from the beginning. A lot of people chose this app because it was free and simple. At least give us the option to keep using the old version or offer a one-time purchase. Forcing a subscription just pushes users away.

Why is the app even called Freenotes if you have to pay for everything? The worst part is, I didn’t even update it by choice. It automatically updated without my permission, and now I’m stuck with only five notes, forever. I understand that developers need to make money, but limiting users to just five notes for life is ridiculous. Who do they think is using this app? It’s not 50-year-olds with full-time jobs and disposable income. It’s students. And students usually don’t have the money to pay for a note-taking app that was once free. If they really wanted to limit usage, a fairer system would be giving users 5 or even 1 new note every day instead of five notes forever. Now, I can’t even create new notes because I’ve hit the limit. It’s so unfair and honestly defeats the whole purpose of the app. When I first downloaded Freenotes, I genuinely thought it was generous of them to offer so many features for free. You could add images, videos, and so much more, it literally felt premium. But now, it’s like they’ve taken all of that away and left users with almost nothing. If they wanted to monetize, they could’ve made advanced features like image uploads part of the Pro version. But limiting the basic ability to make notes to just five? That’s unreasonable. It’s frustrating because I really loved this app. It used to stand out for how accessible and useful it was, but this update completely destroyed that.

once upon a time there was this magical little app called freenotes. it was literally perfect. clean design, easy to use, better than its competitors and actually free (perfect for us broke students). it gave us full control and didn’t gatekeep anything. life was good. then slowly… the dark times began. more ads showed up (was fine as it didn’t interfere with the ability to make notes). but now? only three notebooks unless you pay up?? be so serious. you devs know three notebooks isn’t enough for anyone actually studying. and to top it off, they bumped the yearly plus prices from around £6 to £7. they also increased the lifetime prices in the middle of everyone complaining. like… read the room. there’s already chatgpt, no one needs or asked for the AI, PLEASE. rip freenotes 😖😖 gone but not forgotten. long live greednotes. 💀

This app used to be 5 stars before they released the update where you have to pay for a subscription to have access to most of their important features like unlimited notes. Why do you think people installed this app? Because it’s FREEnotes not PAIDnotes

Upon opening the app to complete some assignments: I was given a warning that I had 3 notes left, and in order to continue to write my school notes, I had to buy a subscription. The app originally was a FREE notes app - which was the main reason I began to use it back in January. It had fantastic features, similar to those of popular apps like notability. Now, to access these features (and to even write notes), you have to upgrade to the plus plan. The name of the app is misleading. If the notes aren’t free: don’t call the app FREEnotes.

Since when did this app become another pay to use. Absolutely ridiculous I rely on this app a lot for my education and the reason I chose to use this app was because of the free features it came with, now it’s all restricted and I have 3 free pages to use left? Again this is ridiculous

Why after so long is a forced subscription hidden behind an update…

Prior to the paywall this was a 5 star app. I think what caused this was the addition of the AI feature literally no one asked for, which you also have to pay an additional amount to be able to access. I love this app but I’m disappointed with what has happened to it.

well this app used to be AMAZING ive used it for nearly a year now and had no problems. i was able to have unlimited notes and access to loads of features for free! however, they have recently updated the app and suddenly i have only 3 notes left then i have to pay for premium? im in complete shock. i think i might just buy goodnotes rather than keep an app which has been free all along suddenly behind a pay wall. very disappointed

Used to love this app.. not using it anymore. I have a few upcoming tests so I open up the app just to see that it’s telling me I have 3 notes left?!? I don’t think the app has the right to call itself ‘FreeNotes’ anymore. Outraged.

I’ve been using this app for a couple of months now and originally I loved it; I was able to import photos and annotate them, I could create notebooks dedicated to each subject I study and it was easy to use with a clear, simple layout. And it was all free (unless of course you wanted extra perks but these were just add ons that were not required for the function of the app). However, after going into the app today, I only had 3 notes remaining to use which, as an A Level student, I quickly used up. This was never the case before and now I’m stuck being unable to create any new notes for my subjects. The entire point of this app is to be able to create notes and the fact you now have to pay for this basic function is insane. I’m now in the process of finding a new app to store and create my notes. Extremely disappointed.

I once loved this app it was so useful and have been using it to make all my notes for school, only to find out that now I need to pay if I want to make notes like you should change your name if it’s not going to be free now I need to redo all my notes and cannot use this app any more bc paying for certain things I get but having limited notes bc I don’t want to pay money to simply write something down diminishes everything about this app. Would not recommend

I had this app for two years with hundreds of hours of notes taken. I liked the app because it was free, “FREEnotes” until I clicked on the app today to find out I had to pay to make more notes. This recent update has ruined business for them as they clearly do not value their users. I’m going to switch to goodnotes app because if I’m going to pay, my money is going to a company that practices what it preaches.

Downloaded this app around 2 years ago and since then have been promised that it would be free forever. I go on freenotes today and see that I now only have 3 notes left and will need to pay to continue using the app as I have been. I find this pretty frustrating as all of my notes from uni are on here and I had been under the impression that I would be able to keep using this for free, but I might uninstall and find another app to use for my notes if they keep this update as it is.
