Metronome apps which are simple, have a good UI, and are not either full of ads or in-app purchases are surprisingly rare. Impulse checks all of these boxes. I have two modest feature requests: 1. Use different colors when flashing on downbeats depending on the color of the downbeat itself. So on a yellow downbeat the app should flash yellow, and on a white downbeat the app should flash white. 2. Add a button to quickly toggle sound on and off, without pausing the metronome. This is useful when using the flashing feature to quickly make the metronome fully visual

Simple. Everything you need, nothing you don’t.

This is SUCH a great app! Works presently across the iPhone and iPad and bonus feature that I didn’t see mentioned is that a visio custom preset saved on one device suns and shows up on the other! Love the different beat sounds, simple yet intuitive layout and the way it all comes together. Great job, developer(s). This app is the 🤌 of metronome apps! Also, thankyou for making it truly free.

The user interface is (small) intended for iPhone but works well enough on iPad. Very functional but you need to touch everything to find all the features. The example preset rhythms are essential to understanding how to construct new and complex rhythms. On the quirky side the Flash occurs on all beats, not just the yellow down beats; having selected a Preset rhythm changes are stored w/o warning finally the Add A Preset (that works like a copy) control is not initially obvious. But given the price is a great deal.

Recently started learning new grooves on cajon. This AP allows me to easily programme the beats and save them. My favourite feature: can set to start playing the beat as slowly as desired, then can make it increase tempo at desired intervals. Great for practicing new rhythms! Love it!👍👍👍

Finally a metronome that is not a clone of something already existing or the electronic representation of a mechanical metronome. With a simple user interface, one can manage a virtually infinite number of rhythmic pattern. And it's free. I could not recommend it enough.

Die App ist Super! Schönes Interface, intuitive Bedienung, keine nervige Werbung. Besser geht es nicht!

Man kann alle erdenklichen Beats programmieren, aber es ist mühsam. Ein paar „normale“ presets mit verschiedenen Sounds würde ich gut finden.

Found the best metronome and flexible custom to create the beat.

Easy to use metronome that sounds great, plus you can easily make fun more complicated rhythms

This app is truly free (FREE!) - no trial period, no in-app purchases. It is a straight-forward metronome but so much more! It is also a rhythm machine. It allows you to add subdivisions, change sounds, have the screen flash, so much flexibility! It is very user-friendly - most of the changes are done by just taping the beats you want altered on the screen. I am not a techie but this is easy to use. I teach ukulele and want all my students to download and use this app!

I love how much control this app gives me over what sub divisions the click happens and it's very intuitive to use. The main thing I would love to see is the ability to keep playing while other apps such as youtube and netflix are running as I really enjoy practicing to a click while I'm watching a show or what not. Also the classic sounds are very annoying in my opinion but I was VERY happy to see that there are many different sound options, which could have been a deal breaker if it was tha other case! Good job!

One of the rare good looking metronomes out there. The flexible beat grid combined with the ability to save preset goes a long way. I wish this was also available on macOS.

简单、好用

Impulse elegantly helps me practice my rhythmic trouble spots, like smoothly switching between quarter notes and triplets and back, in ways other metronomes can’t! The only minor user interface things I would improve would be to (a) make the sound selection spinners larger so my fingers could easily select a different click, and (b) allow the app to run in landscape orientation. Other than that, this is a brilliant little app! Well done!

先提建议：automation模式下点start就直接开始练习模式了 但这样往往还没有做好准备就错过了第一小节 建议在直接开始之前加一小节预备拍 真的很神奇一节拍器 自由度高得我甚至没事干就打开乱戳当小游戏玩😂

Each rhythm has its own feel. I was having trouble feeling different subdivisions and even more trouble trying to add rests. This app is a life saver! Create the rhythm and it plays it for you. A larger selection of sounds makes it much easier to sit and listen to. It’s also just a beautiful app, a true piece of art! Its a must have for any musician and opens up a world of possibilities for rhythm in improv!

Still feels like early days for this app but there is a lot of potential to make this metronome a leader in polyrhythm, practice and idea generation. I think it may come in very useful for rhythmic explorations A few things I might like to see is: 1. Running rhythms in parallel. 2. Modifying tempo individually per rhythm bar 3. Perhaps more presets covering common rhythms (clave etc) 4. Custom sounds 5. Ability to modify individual note durations And auv3 support. Like I said, it‘s still early days for this app. Hope to see some great things!

This metronome is better than a dream come true. The ability to change subdivisions for each beat sets this app light years apart from the rest. I play very syncopated rhythms on many instruments and have always wanted a more versatile metronome. I can usually get different rhythms but it’s the same for each beat. This app is magical. There is mention in the app that further features will be released. However, there hasn’t been an update in at least a year. 😩 🤞 Hoping for an update 🤞

Gefällt mir vom Konzept her sehr gut! Toll dass es viele Sounds gibt, allerdings sind viele davon meiner Meinung nach nicht brauchbar, da sie zu räumlich klingen. Bitte nachbessern mit mehr trockenen, kurzen und akkurater geschnittenen Sounds & Samples. Ausserdem noch die Frage: warum spielt das Metronom einen einzelnen Beat immer nur in Double Time? Um nämlich wirklich 40 beats pro Minute zu bekommen, muss man 20 bpm einstellen. Zum Glück kann ich Kopfrechnen :-))

This app puts dr. Beat to shame and for about $175 less(last I checked the local shop). If you take the time to learn this app the possibilities and applications are almost endless. You can program an actual rhythm and/or metric modulation with the pulse at the same time. Could not recommend this enough to any musician!!! Especially Invaluable for drummers or any instrument requiring linear independence. A+++ Definitely geekn’ out for this app.
