It’s keeps making me sign in over and over again

app stays connected to the chromecast but turns the livestream off and displays the ready to cast screen every 5-10 minutes it’s a joke & on a tv with a sbs app the cast feature doesn’t work at all omg fix this

To many adds, little time to see the teams in the field when the ball is not playing, it loses what soccer mean for the ones that love soccer, we can’t see the warmup at all!!!

(Focussing on the World Cup 2026 experience here - the app is pretty good for normal programming). Really disappointed by the app for the World Cup. A Big fail for the live experience is when you enter the live stream late, it offers ‘watch live’ or ‘start over’ but when you select ‘start over’ it goes to the live feed, giving away the game! It does this for Apple TV as well. The iPad live stream also lacks 15sec replay or forward controls. Also really disappointing. The live feed also seems to offer a maximum of 2hr delay - this could be a major issue when knockout stage arrives, especially given the time of some of these games in Australia. Really needs to improve these features especially as they are the minimum you expect for live sport streaming these days.

No timer jump control, delayed timing (~1.5hr wait) on recently finished games.

Menu is so confusing and the coverage is poor. Where is the FULL opening ceremony. Why does it take so long for the full match to appear after the live coverage.

Trying to watch World Cup on the app this morning, not working, saying there is an error try later. Have been trying for half an hour now, very frustrating

Absolutely ridiculous. Showing ads during a live World Cup match completely ruins the viewing experience. Fans tune in to watch the game, not be interrupted by endless commercials. Broadcasters need to respect the audience and keep the focus on the match. Very disappointing.

A Aussie government run service like this should not have the World Cup. No 4K streaming Long delays to load replays Clunky app on limited devices. Please go away SBS you’re useless. VPN time.

Seriously if SBS wants to compete with other love sport providers they better work on their app. Very limited functionality and experience! Sorry if you want to show World Cup games you better have world quality UI experience! This is not it!

Tried watching the World Cup on catch up while a game was still playing. I press the watch from start option, and get taken to the live stream which in this particular game is 90+2”. Spoilers! Then the max time you can go back in the stream is 30 mins so I can’t watch the start .Please fix this.

SBS has great shows but too many ads. And the same ads over and over and over and over…it’s exhausting.

An golly there are lots of adverts for a broadcaster we already pay taxes to fund.

Installed this app on Sony tv. You go to spect something to watch. It then takes you back to the start of the app. Like you’re about to start it for the first time.

If the app even opens on my phone (which it hasn’t done for the past few weeks), it crashes frequently and you have to start at the beginning of the show again. For those of us who travel, this is so frustrating.

Have you got any idea how hard it is to keep signing in using a tv remote control.

This has to be the worst TV app ever. So buggy it won’t even start.

Keeps dropping

Ads every few minutes makes me want to stop using this streaming service. I hate the constant interruptions!

I don’t normally use the app but what I can’t do is search for a single thing. I type in the title, hit search, nothing. Please fix.

App doesn’t work after yesterday’s update

Great choice of programs, but the resolution could be much higher. Very pixelated & blurry. Update May 2026, app just tells me something went wrong?! Unusable, have deleted.

I keep getting error playback and can’t watch anything

Between iPad and Apple TV, hopeless. Locks you out and refuses to restart show. Tried logging out. Nothing. Useless

Keeps saying opps something went wrong and I can’t find where to give feedback. I had to log in to my tv several times why ?

From an app that worked really well that allowed you to keep your current viewing across multiple devices, to this piece of junk they’ve now built - what an utter disappoint. It only works on one of our TVs now, it doesnt allow you to log in on any iphone or ipad. You can look at the app, but you cant view anything as play wont work because it demands you logon with your account, and it wont let you log on - keeps on coming up with an error. Disgusting useless piece of junk app. It was bad enough that it was filled with so many repeating ads, now they’ve “fixed it” so it just wont work. Pathetic

Keeps on making me sign in. Shows sooooo many adverts. You hide behind being a “free” service, without reflecting on the amount the Australian public pays for your existence through our taxes. We expect better.

A 20 minute show has about 15 minutes of ads. It’s ridiculous, I understand that’s how you let people watch for free, but maybe some ads at the start but every 5 minutes is crazy

Not working at all when trying to sign in😡

Without a doubt the most unstable on demand app. Plenty of ads but stops working part way through a program. Stops working on ipad, TV apps. So frustrating and non sensical. Put some money into the app sbs.

Don’t know how many times this app just closes while I’m streaming something. Doesn’t happen with any other app I use - just SBS.

Great content, shame everyone gives it a swerve because of the amount of ads and the content of the ads. Stop advertising betting and alcohol, can’t you see they are destroying our society! And worse still, being bombarding with an ad when you just open a show to see if you would even like to watch it. Turns me right off and so I look elsewhere!

I don’t know what happened in the last upgrade but this app is now almost unusable. Frequently crashing then on restart you have to suffer through another mass of ads before you get about 5 minutes more show and then another crash. At this point I’ve watched more ads than TV. There’s also the issue where the picture freezes whilst the dialogue continues. So you restart the app for more ads. I get that SBS is a public broadcaster but if you don’t have the money for a streaming service on an iPhone app then don’t produce one.

Haven’t been able to watch any programs for several weeks just get playback error sign. Not happy Jan

There are so many ads it’s like watching commercial tv. Be like the abc or charge for the app with no ads. Great programming but unwatchable

Need better searching

SBS keep saying they’re fixing it. They never do. Probably the worst app available which is a shame given the content is so good. Picture and sound often out of sync, shows restart for no reason, and the ads are appalling. Wouldn’t take much to get a work experience student to fix it. SBS ask you to contact them but all you get id is an email saying they’re fixing the issues. Obviously they have a lot of issues.

Been using the TV App for years for the cycling, now it’s asking me to sign in to view anything, tried that, no QR code visible and getting the circle of death when I try to log in the long way. No emails to reset my password when I request that option. Can use the app on all other devices.

VERY CLUNKY !! Impossible to watch any shows, there’s too many “PLAYBACK ERRORS” then freezes and can’t get out of that black screen. Other times says; “we aren’t sure what went wrong!” (black screen and show plays in background, sound only) VERY CLUNKY !! APPS OUT OF SYNC iPhone app doesn’t sync w/ AppleTV app! So the saved favourite shows on one iPhone, does not show on the AppleTV… Not good update The TV channels and Live tabs are cut off and don’t scroll… Please allow your screens to adjust to different phone sizes, automatically! Not every one uses iPad size phones!

It sucks

Not a single trailer, program, film or series… NOT ONE video will even attempt to begin playing. “Playback Error, Sorry we don’t know what happened!” Frustrating AND flippant is not a pleasant combo

SBS Needs to get rid of Ads! If the ABC can manage it so can SBS. The ads. Turn me off even putting the SBS App on any device I own.

I love many SBS programs. I won’t use anymore though. There are so many ads!! If the program restarts in the wrong spot or you want to move forward or back new ads start. It is sooo unusable. I don’t mind few ads but SBS is over the top. Use a different service.

SBS app does not appear to have a search function. What if we want to look up older shows. Not just SBS thinks I want to what.

AirPlay is broken Films don't go fullscreen on iPhone 5. in portrait there is a white stripe at top, in landscape there are obscured elements behind the video partly visible at the top.

I’m ok with the ads, but it is such a shame that the movies are so highly compressed. I’ve never seen such poor quality of image from any other streaming service.

Seems to be a lot of ads recently for time watched. Feels like 5 mins of content then 2 mins of ads

Continually gets stuck in a death loop logging in via Facebook. Tried alternatives to set up and verification email never gets sent and then it will say error when trying to resend verification code. Absolute nightmare app I have never been able to login to

App freezes on my tv after the last ad of every ad break so you have to go back out of the show and then go back in. So then in plays the ads again. Extremely frustrating

Crashes more than it works

asks for all your personal information before watching live tv. poor app functionality and still has HEAPS OF ADS. terrible app

Constant buffering yellow circle drives me nuts but the Ads play fine.

Constantly freezes and then says ‘unknown error’. The only app I have that never works. Reinstalled several times. Works briefly. Stops.

Useless. Require you to sign in (AGAIN!) but the authentication is broken and keeps on restarting.

I have trouble using this app all the time. It won’t play on my tv for some reason. So I have it on google chrome and still have so much trouble. Sometimes I have sound but there is no picture at all. It’s the only app out of all the free to air channels I experience problems with.

Playback errors cause constant frustration

The app for this streaming platform does not work. I find it ridiculous that so many other users have found the same thing and SBS has done nothing to solve the issue. They also take no notice of emails!

Watching SBS On Demand on a brand new Sony TV and the app is buggy AF. The screen freezes every time it goes to an advertisement. You have to close out of the show and restart it to get it working again. Do better SBS. Not good enough.

The frequency and duration of the advertisements on this application make its content completely unwatchable. It is far worse than all of the privately owned broadcasters in Australia, this is especially poor considering SBS and ABC receive government funding and the alternative Australian broadcasters do not.

It's shocking Asian sub titles come on for no reason, heaps of ads slow as ui it's a terrible streaming service
